Job Role and Responsibility: Xilinx, Inc., a subsidiary of AMD, Inc., is hiring SMTS Product Development Eng. to Focus on FPGA & ACAP implementation flows (placer, router, logic optimization), design closure ease-of-use, tools specification, validation, documentation and key customer support. As a member of a highly seasoned Product Engineering team, work closely with several R&D teams, internal application design teams and tier-1 customers to improve FPGA compilation software quality of results and ease of use in order to enable the next generation of designs across the UltraScale and Versal ACAP device families. Drive or contribute to key product areas, such as netlist partitioning, floorplanning, placement optimization, congestion modeling and alleviation, in the current production tools and next generation tools. Handle key customer escalations from analysis to closure, while collaborating with the Field team. Deep dive on new and critical tool issues seen by Vivado users internally and externally to identify workarounds and future enhancements. Contribute to triaging reported issues in several Vivado product areas, such as design entry, synthesis, implementation, and help engineering address them effectively. Actively explore innovative methodologies, their impact on flow and design practices, with emphasis on timing closure and compile time, as well as productivity with the new Versal ACAP family. Work closely with company Business Units (Data Center, Wired, Wireless, Emulation & Prototyping, Test Equipment) to improve their designs, products and customer experience. Develop and deliver training materials on new features and methodologies. Stay current with and propose the internal use of industry approaches, algorithms, and practices. Work on problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors. Exercise judgment within defined company procedures and practices to select methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. Utilize knowledge of computers and electronics, including computer hardware and software, applications, and programming, as well as knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. Apply knowledge of engineering principles, best practices, and technologies to the design, development, and testing of various company systems and products.

Qualifications: Degree required

Master's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Physics, or related field.

Qualifications: Amount and type of experience required: Five (5) years of experience in the job offered or closely related engineering role.

Alternate combination of education and experience: Employer will accept alternate combination of education and experience: Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Physics, or related field and seven (7) years of progressive post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered or closely related engineering role.

Specific skills required: The following skills are required:

Position requires four (4) years of experience in the following:

  • ASIC design tools (synthesis, simulation, equivalence checking, static timing analysis);
  • Back-End (physical design) EDA tools;
  • Unix and Linux environments;
  • Physical design (PD) process;
  • TCL or TK; and
  • SPICE.
