Summary of Position

The Director, Strategic Initiatives, Clinical Operations leads the design, development, and execution of critical strategies within the Clinical Operations team. This role is instrumental in driving transformational initiatives that enhance clinical performance, optimize population health management, and align with value-based care principles in a dynamic virtual and digital health environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Strategic Planning and Execution

  • Collaborate with the senior leadership to identify, prioritize, and implement key strategic initiatives that advance organizational goals.

  • Develop detailed roadmaps for clinical transformation projects, ensuring alignment with value-based care and population health strategies.

  • Lead cross-functional teams to execute initiatives, ensuring timely delivery, measurable outcomes, and adherence to quality standards.

Transformational Leadership

  • Drive innovative clinical operations initiatives that enhance care delivery, operational efficiency, and patient outcomes in virtual and digital health environments.

  • Identify and implement new technologies, processes, and care models to improve clinical workflows and outcomes.

  • Lead change management efforts, fostering adoption of new initiatives across teams.

Population Health Management

  • Oversee the development and implementation of programs aimed at improving population health outcomes, reducing disparities, and managing risk.

  • Utilize data analytics to identify trends, stratify risk, and design interventions for high-need patient populations.

  • Collaborate with care teams to close care gaps and optimize preventive care efforts.

Value-Based Care Implementation

  • Develop and oversee strategies that align clinical operations with value-based care objectives, including quality metrics, cost efficiency, and patient satisfaction.

  • Partner with internal and external stakeholders to enhance care coordination and optimize performance in accountable care organizations (ACOs), Medicare Advantage, and other VBC arrangements.

Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement

  • Serve as a key liaison between Clinical Operations and other departments, including IT, analytics, finance, and compliance, to ensure seamless integration of initiatives.

  • Engage with external partners, payers, and regulatory bodies to support organizational goals.

  • Communicate progress and outcomes of strategic initiatives to executive leadership and other stakeholders.

Performance Measurement and Continuous Improvement

  • Establish KPIs and performance metrics to measure the success of strategic initiatives.

  • Analyze results, identify areas for improvement, and implement refinements to enhance impact.

  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement across clinical operations teams.

Qualifications Expected for Position

  • Clinical background or equivalent professional experience in healthcare, population health, or care delivery is required.
  • 5+ years in healthcare operations, with significant experience in digital health or virtual care environments.
  • Formal training or certification in project management or process improvement (PMP, CAPM, Lean Six Sigma, Agile, or similar).
  • Expertise in data-driven decision-making and performance improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma).
  • Exceptional project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple complex initiatives simultaneously.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate data into actionable insights.
  • Outstanding communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Proven track record of leading large-scale transformational initiatives in clinical settings.
  • Deep expertise in population health management and value-based care implementation.

The below qualifications, knowledge, experience, and/or background are expected but not required for this role:

  • Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, business, public health, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements for virtual care and population health programs preferred.
  • Strong understanding of virtual care delivery models, including telehealth platforms and digital care coordination tools.

Work Environment

Office Remote Hybrid (Office & Remote)

Travel: up to 10%.

The base salary range for this position is$150,000- $165,000.In addition to a base salary, this position is eligible for a performance bonus and benefits (subject to eligibility requirements) listed hereTeladoc Health Benefits 2026.Total compensation is based on several factors including, but not limited to, type of position, location, education level, work experience, and certifications.This information is applicable for all full-time positions.
