Job Overview

We are hiring a Controls and Automation Engineer to design, develop, and support industrial electrical control systems in a highly technical manufacturing and operations environment. This direct-hire role focuses on PLC programming, automation systems, electrical controls, and equipment commissioning to deliver reliable, high-performance solutions. The ideal candidate is hands-on, detail-oriented, and thrives in cross-functional engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities



  • Design, develop, and maintain electrical control systems for automated machinery and processes
  • Program, test, and troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, and control hardware
  • Create and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and control panel layouts
  • Select and specify electrical components including PLCs, drives, sensors, and relays
  • Support system startup, commissioning, and on-site troubleshooting
  • Collaborate with mechanical engineers, technicians, and project managers
  • Ensure compliance with electrical codes, safety standards, and internal procedures
  • Maintain engineering documentation, drawings, manuals, and software backups
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and system upgrades



Qualifications



  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 3+ years of experience in industrial controls or automation engineering
  • Proficiency with PLC programming (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Schneider, or similar)
  • Experience with HMI/SCADA systems
  • Strong understanding of industrial electrical systems and troubleshooting



Preferred Skills



  • Experience with VFDs, servo systems, and motion control
  • Knowledge of industrial networks (EtherNet/IP, Modbus, Profibus)
  • Familiarity with NEC, NFPA, UL, and CE standards
  • Background in manufacturing or industrial environments
