OVERVIEW OF THE COMPANYFox TV Stations FOX Television Stations owns and operates 29 full power broadcast television stations in the U.S. These include stations located in 14 of the top 15 largest designated market areas, or DMAs, and duopolies in 11 DMAs, including the three largest DMAs (New York, Los Angeles and Chicago). Of these stations, 18 are affiliated with the FOX Network. In addition to distributing sports, entertainment and syndicated content, our television stations collectively produce approximately 1,200 hours of local news every week. FOX 32 Chicago is looking for a powerhouse Sports Anchor to spearhead our sports department in one of the nation's premier sports towns. This is a high-visibility leadership role that requires a blend of elite on-air presence and the "boots-on-the-ground" grit of a reporter.

The Lead Sports Anchor will drive high-impact, multimedia, and in-depth sports coverage, leading our digital and social media expansion. From the studio to the sidelines of Soldier Field, you will be responsible for delivering the "FOX Edge" -bold, accurate, and exclusive content.

Key Responsibilities

1. On-Air Leadership & Content Generation

  • Primary Host: Command the sports desk for gameday studio shows, daily talk shows and podcasts with authority, energy, and a deep-rooted knowledge of Chicago sports.
  • Strategic Pitching: Lead the daily editorial process by researching and pitching in-depth sports stories that transcend daily scores.
  • Expert Analysis: Provide "big-picture" analysis and commentary on professional and collegiate developments under tight deadlines.

2. Reporting & Elite Interviews

  • In-Depth Interviews: Secure and conduct high-profile interviews with athletes, coaches, and front-office executives in the studio and in the field.
  • Breaking News: Act as the lead reporter for major breaking sports news, providing live, on-scene coverage for linear TV and digital streams.

3. Multimedia & Digital Execution

  • End-to-End Production: Maintain high technical standards by shooting and editing high-quality video content (MMJ style) when required.
  • Digital Strategy: Drive "Digital-First" initiatives, using SEO techniques and social-media-specific storytelling to enhance our reach on web and mobile platforms.

4. Community & Relationship Building

  • Networking: Develop and maintain a top tier network of sources within the local sports community to ensure FOX 32 is first on every major story.
  • Mentorship: Serve as a senior leader in the newsroom, assisting in the development of sports reporters, producers, and photographers.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, or a related field.
  • Experience: Extensive, proven experience in sports hosting and reporting, ideally in a Top 10 market or a high-volume, digital-forward organization.
  • Technical Mastery: Expert proficiency in non-linear editing software (e.g., Avid, Adobe Premiere) and professional camera operation.
  • Ethical Standards: Impeccable accuracy, strong news judgment, and a commitment to the highest standards of journalistic ethics.
  • Adaptability: The ability to thrive under the intense pressure of a live news environment and work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Valid Drivers license

  • Engagement & Reach: Success is measured by growth in engagement metrics across social media and digital platforms.
  • Exclusivity: The frequency and impact of "market-leading" exclusive content and breaking news scoops.
  • Audience Growth: Measurable increases in viewership and retention during sports segments.

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay rate/range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is $150,000.00-180,000.00 annually. This role is also eligible for various benefits, including medical/dental/vision, insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents. Benefits for Union represented employees will be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
