Primary Purpose and Essential Functions
The Department of Political Science, Law and International Studies invites applications for a one (1) year teaching post-doctoral fellow beginning in the fall semester of 2026. We are currently seeking candidates with scholarly and teaching interests at the nexus of law and politics. Ideally, the candidate's work will focus on contemporary questions associated with civil rights and liberties, constitutional law, and justice.
Faculty in the Department of Political Science, Law and International Studies have diverse research interests, place a high emphasis on quality teaching, and share a strong commitment to promoting diversity, equity and inclusion. The post-doctoral fellow will be required to teach five (5) courses over the academic year including (but not limited to) Constitutional Law, Constitutional Law: Civil Liberties, Criminal Law, and Introduction to Law and Politics in the American Political System. Qualified candidates should have demonstrated experience working with a diverse community of learners.
A Ph.D. in Political Science is required by the time of the appointment. Salary is commensurate with experience and includes the option of receiving additional compensation for summer teaching. This position includes generous health, dental, and vision benefits, as well as research and conference travel support during the academic year.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Political Science at the time of appointment.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Work is performed during standard hours. Additional hours may be required to meet business needs or deadlines.
Hiring Range $50,680; We consider factors such as, but not limited to, scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's qualifications, internal equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
