Position Details:

As part of the Anxiety Disorders Center team, you will report to Director, Selective Mutism. You will will support the February 2026 Brave Buddies Program within the Selective Mutism (SM) Service at the Child Mind Institute.

You will facilitate program activities for a group of children with SM and utilize evidence-based behavioral strategies, including Parent-Child Interaction Therapy for Selective Mutism (PCIT-SM), to help children engage behaviorally and verbally.

This is an non-exempt, part-time, onsite position.

You must be available for all required preparation sessions and for the full duration of the program. Please review all dates below.

Preparation Sessions:

  • Thursday February 12th, 11-6PM: Brave Buddies Prep Sessions Part I
  • Friday February 13th, 11-4PM: Brave Buddies Prep Sessions Part II

Program:

  • Saturday, February 14th - Tuesday, February 17th, 8AM-3PM: Brave Buddies
  • The position requires availability over two weekend days.

You Will:

  • Support a team of approximately 10-14 counselors in delivering the Brave Buddies Program, offering day-to-day guidance, coaching, and problem-solving as needed.
  • Work closely with fellow Classroom Team Leaders and senior program staff to coordinate programming and ensure consistency across classrooms.
  • Apply evidence-based strategies from PCIT-SM to support children throughout daily activities and exposures.
  • Assist senior clinical staff during preparation sessions and help reinforce how behavioral strategies are understood and carried out in real-time.
  • Help counselors implement individualized plans that target each child's goals, track progress, and capture behavioral observations and feedback.
  • Facilitate morning meetings, classroom activities, and community-based exposure tasks with children.

You Have:

  • Graduate-level study in psychology, counseling, social work, education/special education, or related field; or equivalent experience.
  • Prior training in PCIT-SM and participation as a counselor or classroom team leader in the Brave Buddies Program or a similar group-based treatment program for children with SM.

Pay Range

The salary range for the position is posted. Factors such as candidate's work experience, education/training, job-related skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and business considerations affect the salary offered within this range.
