POSITION SUMMARY: This role supports daily quarry and rail operations by safely operating mobile equipment, managing material handling, and assisting with drilling and blasting activities to meet production, quality, and environmental standards. The position requires strong mechanical and troubleshooting skills, the ability to work independently or in a team, and a willingness to work varying shifts and conditions while maintaining regulatory compliance and operational efficiency. RESPONSIBILITIES & EXPECTATIONS: Assist in coordinating and meeting kiln feed requirements for plant.
Perform day-to-day operations of the quarry area to meet safety, tonnage, quality and environmental demands. Operate stone handling system. Assist in loading and stockpile management of dolostone.
Assist with Rail Facility
Loading of Lime Shipments Operation of Shuttlewagon Communicate/coordinate BNSF rail activities CDL preferred at Rail Ability drive to and from Rail (rail is not on plant site)
Operating mobile equipment for Quarry and Plant
Operation of pit loader, haul trucks, water trucks, blade, utility loader, and other equipment as needed Loading both large haul trucks and over the road trucks Working with others as well as working alone as needed.
Drilling and Blasting Activities
Capable of being added to ATF explosive license Assisting with the drilling and blasting activities Assist in inventory management of explosives
ATTRIBUTES:
Industrial background with demonstrated success with trouble shooting production problems. Ability to do mechanical repairs: welding, conveyor belt splicing, oxygen-acetylene cutting,heavy equipment operation, electrical knowledge and ability to do electrical trouble shooting Knowledgeable of current safety, environmental & ATF regulations and practices. Must have or have the ability to gain knowledge and skills to operate all mobile equipment and to train and supervise others to perform that function. Be able to perform basic mathematical calculations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals is required. Knowledge in SAP and ability to generate required work notifications, purchase requisitions. Knowledge in Microsoft excel in order to be able to help control and track quarry activities such as but not limited to: crushing activities, equipment downtime, fuel usage, and other items. Excellent human relations skills in organizational cohesiveness including the abilty to motivate and lead employees. Ability to multi-task, with excellent organizational and communication skills, proven problem solving skills, and can think "outside the box". Ability to work rotating shifts, nights, weekends and be open to call-outs.
Physical Demands include but are not limited to:
Tolerate working outside in severe weather conditions as well as exposure to industrial high temperature, noise and dust. Access all areas within a site which could include heights of 120 feet, confined spaces, climbing ladders or stairs, and accessing tunnels. Able to lift over 70 pounds. Willingness to operate and drive trucks to and from rail (CDL).
Required Experience: At least 5 years experience in a production/distribution environment with a supervisory background preferred. Required Education: High School Diploma, GED Equivalent, or demonstrated skills or ability required at minimum. OR Associates degree in Industrial, Distribution, or Engineering Systems or equivalent practical experience preferred.
