Description

Reports to: Chief People Officer

Location: Northeast US (supports Newington, Manchester, Enfield, Conn, and Boylston, Mass. (with weekly travel as required). Will support additional sites in Cincinnati and Billerica upon closing of pending acquisition, other relevant sites based on future acquisitions.

Remote work: May work hybrid remote schedule with 3-4 days/week in office

Starting Compensation: $170 - $200k annual salary, 25% target annual bonus.

Position Summary

As Director, Employee Services you will serve as a key member of the company's HR leadership team and deliver employee and labor relations services - directly and through other HR team members. You will support the delivery of non-union Employee Services in Newington, Enfield, Manchester and Boylston through local HR partners and in direct support of each site leader. As a leader on a growing HR team, you will help build a culture across the organization in support of scalable growth, acquisition integration, and a People First, Mission Always culture. You will support the integration of acquisitions in your growing geography, support contract negotiations with the I.U.E./C.W.A. in 2027, and serve on the HR leadership team.

Key Responsibilities

Service Delivery & Leadership



  • Ensure People programs (Total Rewards, Talent Management, Talent Acquisition) are delivered in a way that supports HR's mandate to attract, develop, manage and engage Talent.
  • Provide leadership for local Employee Services Managers (HRBPs) and education to the broader field HR / People Services team of generalists, particularly with regard to Positive Employee Relations.
  • Build strong coaching and guidance relationships with other members of regional site leadership teams.


Employee Service Delivery for Client Organizations



  • Ensure that People-focused programs, policies and procedures are fit-for-purpose, efficient & effective, and aligned with business strategy (organic and inorganic growth), and fully integrated with local management operations.
  • Manage workforce planning, recruiting and onboarding for new employees in supported locations.
  • Help develop and then deploy training and career development / succession planning programs to support employee development and ensure Talent availability.
  • Utilize company tools (e.g., salary structures, benefits packages, recognition programs) to build morale and drive employee retention.
  • Assists the senior management teams (corporate and local) in developing and implementing effective human resource strategies.
  • Implements and trains clients on compliance with HR policies, ensuring compliance with federal, state and local regulations (e.g., EEO, FMLA, FLSA, etc.).


Labor Relations Subject Matter Expert



  • Establish and maintain productive and positive relationships with key union representatives.
  • Manage local collective bargaining process and work to ensure that labor agreements are implemented and administered appropriately.
  • Represent the organization in grievances and arbitration and seek to proactively resolve disputes between workers and management.
  • Help plan and implement long-term labor contract negotiation strategies.
  • Contributes to other functional areas (such as total rewards, recruitment, training, and development) as they pertain to the organizations' unionized workforce.


Operational Excellence & Culture



  • Ensure that People-focused programs, policies and procedures are fit-for-purpose, efficient & effective, and aligned with business strategy (organic and inorganic growth), and fully integrated with local management operations.
  • As part of HR Leadership Team, take lead on assigned projects in Talent Management and Engagement.
  • Foster a People culture of customer-focus, and a unified enterprise mindset.
  • Lead, mentor and develop HR talent across multiple locations and business units.



Position Requirements

Required



  • Proven HR generalist experience (10+ years), including some supervisory experience.
  • Prior experience providing HR support in a union environment.
  • Appropriate technical knowledge in major functional areas of HR.
  • Working knowledge of U.S.?government rules and regulations related to benefits programs (e.g., IRS, DOL, ERISA, etc.).
  • Outstanding communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively from the shop floor to site leadership.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent required.


Preferred



  • Advanced degree (MILR, MBA or equivalent) or JD.
  • Demonstrable track record of leading successful CBA negotiations.

  • Effective resolution of bargaining unit issues (progressive discipline, grievance rate and resolution, etc.)
  • Effective Talent Acquisition (Time to fill, Cost management, False Positive rate)
  • Turnover Rate / Engagement Scores
