We are seeking a termination Contract Specialistready to make an impact and join our team. In this role, you will provide expert guidance on the procedural, legal, and operational requirements for terminating contracts, ensuring compliance with agency and U.S. Government regulations. This is a hybrid, full-time role working closely with Contracting Officers (COs), legal counsel, technical offices, and partners.



  • Advise on terminations for convenience or default of contracts. Individuals must have demonstrated abilities to assimilate and apply knowledge on all types of award mechanisms quickly and efficiently.
  • Prepare all required documentation for award terminations, including termination notices, determinations and findings, negotiation memoranda, and settlement agreements.
  • Interpret and apply applicable sections of the FAR and supplemental agency regulations and policies.
  • Process actions in required contracts and financial management system.
  • Coordinate with the Office of General Counsel, technical teams, and implementing partners to manage the termination process.
  • Assess financial, contractual, and programmatic implications of terminations and recommend risk mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure post-termination actions, including audits, final payments, and closeouts, are completed in compliance with policy.
  • Develop guidance, templates, and training materials to strengthen approach to award terminations.
  • Position requires US citizenship and ability to successfully pass a government background investigation.
  • Must be able to support/work core hours of 1000-1500 Washington DC time regardless of hybrid location.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Experience: 5 years' experience in USG contract management with at least 1 year of experience terminating contracts and negotiating termination settlements.
  • FAC-C Professional or CFCM.
  • Capability to quickly assimilate new information and develop proficiency with unfamiliar subject areas, e.g. Government to Government, Title II, Interagency Awards, and Public International Organizations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication with the ability to work independently in a virtual team environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite to include Teams or similar workplace chat and videoconferencing tools.
