Responsibilities

Peraton is seeking an experienced User Experience (UX) Specialist to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals in transforming the future of technology and public health. This 100% remote position will support our CDC customer. The qualified candidate will support website and application development for high traffic, high availability sites and apps. This position requires an experienced User Interface Architect who will participate in all aspects of the User-Centered Design (UCD) process. This position will also support web/digital metrics where the candidate will gather reporting requirements, help document user needs, and design dashboards.

Roles and Responsibilities:

    Consults with stakeholders and makes recommendations regarding the benefits and value of user-centered design (UCD)
  • Plans UCD strategy for projects based on customer needs, budget, and priorities and integrate tasks into the overall development process.
  • Participates in defining UX standards and templates for Web and mobile applications.
  • Conducts user research through interviews, surveys, and Web analytics; define user goals and information needs; create task and system flows; develop scenarios and user personas.
  • Evaluates legacy applications by conducting baseline tests, heuristic evaluations, cognitive walkthroughs, and analyzing any existing user feedback.
  • Designs clean, consistent user interfaces; design according to best practices using knowledge gained from user/product analysis; adhere to established CDC.gov design guidelines.
  • Produces wireframes and interactive prototypes to depict the user interface.
  • Outlines recommended organization of content/information based on users' mental model.
  • Defines UI Specifications for handoff to development team.
  • Produces client-ready deliverables and documentation.
  • Plays a lead role in enterprise metrics work for CDC web community including requirements specification and designing dashboards.
  • Designs and conducts remote or in-person usability tests with interactive prototypes; identify issues and make recommendations for improvement.


Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 8 years of experience or 12 years of experience in lieu of the degree.
  • Experience in Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), applying agile methodologies as appropriate.
  • Experience designing mobile-friendly or responsive Web sites or applications.
  • Experience with Adobe Analytics or other Metrics software packages
  • Understand and implement Section 508 accessibility requirements.
  • Communicate effectively with all levels of contract and customer organizations and with translating academic and technical terminology into common terms.
  • Meet deadlines with both timeliness and quality and with balancing and prioritizing work across multiple projects.
  • Able to provide leadership, strategic value, and critical thinking to a team.
  • Skilled at presenting data visualizations in meaningful dashboard layouts.
  • Work independently and as part of a team.
  • Must be a US Citizen or a Green Card Holder
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain the required agency clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Human Factors, Information Design, Digital Media, or closely related discipline.
  • Understanding of the CDC public health mission.
  • Knowledge of CDC design standards and agency web templates.
  • Experience with public health website/technology projects such as for CDC, state health departments, or medical/health websites.
  • Experience working in a government contracting environment.
  • Relevant on-the-job experience in designing usable, responsive websites and web apps.

Target Salary Range

$86,000 - $138,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual's experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
