Overview
General Dynamics Electric Boat, the nation's premier designer and builder of nuclear submarines, is seeking a Cloud Engineer to join the Information Technology department. The IT team is experiencing an exciting transformation as we move into the cloud. The Cloud Engineer will help drive the successful implementation of secure, scalable, and high-performing cloud environments. Responsibilities
Design, implement and manage modern, integrated cloud/hybrid cloud platforms that are future-proof and aligned with performance/mission objectives
- Design and implement large-scale, complex systems that integrate cloud and on-premises platforms including storage, compute, and throughput.
- Ensure solutions meet performance, security, compliance standards, and industry best practices.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and in a team
- Develop and maintain cloud architecture documentation, including diagrams, standards, and best practices
This position is open to fully remote
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's of Science degree or higher in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Information Technology
- Minimum of 5-15 years of post graduate IT work experience
- Active Cloud Certifications (e.g., Azure Solutions Architect, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Architect Professional)
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance
Preferred:
- Experience with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) and serverless architectures.
- Proficiency in Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools (e.g., Terraform) and cloud management practices
- Experience with hybrid and multi-cloud platforms such as Azure and OCI
- Experience with On-Prem to cloud platform migration
- Proven experience as a Solutions Architect or similar role
Skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Must be able to function both independently and within a team environment, and be able to facilitate internal and external team meetings with self-sufficiency
- Successful candidate must be detail oriented and have excellent organizational skills, with a demonstrated strong work ethic for completing tasks and work assignments on schedule
- Extensive knowledge of cloud security, compliance, and governance
- Enterprise Data Management, Integration and Analytics experience
- In-depth knowledge of cloud computing technologies and current computing trends
