The Director of Global CDT Programs and Operations role is a strategic and operational leader responsible for driving efficiency, consistency, and innovation across the global Client Development Team (CDT). The role translates commercial strategy into scalable processes that help teams win more business, move faster, and execute more effectively across the front end of the client lifecycle.

Sitting at the intersection of business development, consultant enablement, and organizational capability building, this role drives firmwide alignment and consistency. Success in this position requires a blend of big-picture strategic vision and hands-on execution, along with strong stakeholder management skills to influence a global, matrixed organization.

KEY RELATIONSHIPS

Reports to: Vice President of Global Business Development

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Commercial Strategy & Integration
  • Shape and execute the global CDT strategy, turning firm commercial priorities into focused initiatives that drive new business growth and client retention.
  • Align practices and regions around shared commercial priorities, ensuring consistent adoption and execution across the firm.
  • Strengthen the visibility and impact of the CDT by communicating results, performance insights, and progress against strategic initiatives.
  • Partner with practice leadership to design and deliver cross-practice programs that expand multi-service client relationships and deepen market presence.
  • Translate market trends, client feedback, and performance data into actionable commercial priorities and focus areas for the CDT.
  • Drive execution discipline across commercial initiatives, ensuring priorities move from concept to delivery with clear ownership and timelines.


Process & Workflow Operations
  • Refine and continue developing the business development operating model, ensuring consultants receive timely, high-impact support and guidance to pursue new opportunities effectively.
  • Set firmwide standards for deliverables and client-facing materials, driving consistency, quality, and impact across pitches.
  • Build scalable enablement tools, playbooks, and operating practices that increase win rates and accelerate early-stage client engagement.
  • Streamline CDT workflows by improving process design, technology utilization, data flow, and content management.
  • Establish operational frameworks that reduce friction, strengthen collaboration, and enable faster execution across the firm's global, matrixed organization.


Go-To-Market Enablement
  • Drive the consultant enablement ecosystem, developing scalable frameworks and programs that improve pitch performance and win more business.
  • Improve global access to high quality and standardized deliverables that increase go-to-market speed and execution discipline.
  • Oversee and continuously optimize the business development request and intake process (including BD log management), ensuring consultants receive timely, high-impact support for active opportunities.
  • Identify and execute content upgrades that improve pitch effectiveness, messaging consistency, and client engagement outcomes.
  • Facilitate training programs for non-CDT colleagues, strengthening front-end commercial capabilities across the firm.


Talent Development
  • Partner with Client Development Managers and Talent Acquisition teams to support global CDT hiring efforts and future team planning.
  • Design and deliver structured onboarding programs that shorten ramp-up time and accelerate productivity for new CDT hires.
  • Collaborate with Learning & Development to create CDT-specific training and skill building programs.
  • Contribute to the firm's broader learning and development strategy by embedding business development and commercial capability building into other organizational programs.
  • Support career development frameworks and performance management processes in partnership with HR.
  • Serve as a mentor and coach to CDT professionals, supporting performance growth, retention, and long-term capability building.


Technology & Commercial Intelligence
  • Partner with Technology, Commercial Capabilities, and global stakeholders to implement and optimize tools that improve BD effectiveness and collaboration.
  • Design and deploy dashboards and performance indicators that provide clear visibility into pipeline health, client engagement, and opportunity conversion.
  • Translate commercial data into actionable insights that support leadership decision-making, opportunity prioritization, and resource allocation.
  • Establish data standards and reporting practices that improve accuracy, consistency, and adoption across regions.
  • Use analytics to measure CDT performance and drive continuous improvement across business development and enablement programs.


QUALIFCATIONS
  • Experience: 15+ years of experience in business development operations, sales enablement, and/or related commercial operations roles, with a strong track record in a professional services or consulting environment. Significant experience leading initiatives at a global or multi-region scale is highly desirable.
  • Operational Excellence: Exceptional process design and project management skills. Able to streamline workflows and implement improvements that scale globally, driving efficiency and consistency in execution. Highly organized and detail oriented.
  • Commercial Analytics: Analytical mindset and experience with data-driven decision making. Proficiency with CRM systems, analytics tools, and dashboard reporting to monitor performance. Adept at identifying insights from data and converting them into strategic actions.
  • Strategic Leadership: Proven ability to set strategy and drive large-scale initiatives that improve commercial performance. Demonstrated success in translating high-level objectives into actionable plans and delivering results in a complex, matrixed organization. Strategic thinker with a hands on approach, who also has the ability to be adaptable.
  • Influence & Collaboration: Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills. Capable of building relationships and credibility with senior consultants and leaders across functions and regions. Comfortable working across a global, matrix organization and leading through influence rather than direct authority.
  • Communication Skills: Outstanding communication and presentation abilities. Skilled at training and coaching others, with the ability to distill complex ideas into clear, compelling messages.
  • Team Development: Passion for talent development and mentorship. Experience in building or leading high-performing teams, with a focus on developing others' capabilities.


SUCCESS METRICS
  • Revenue Growth: Improved conversion rates from pitch to signed engagement, and clear positive impact on overall client development performance and firm revenue growth.
  • Commercial Velocity: Reduced turnaround time for developing and delivering client proposals and pursuit materials and shortened time from initial client meeting to search launch.
  • Cross-Practice Impact: Increased consistency in pitch quality, messaging, and deliverables across regions, alongside greater cross-practice revenue generation, expanded multi-service client relationships, and improved client retention.
  • Global Operating Excellence: Successful implementation and firm-wide adoption of standardized global business development processes, workflows, and operating rhythms. Improved efficiency, reduced friction, and stronger alignment across CDT teams and geographies.
  • Technology Adoption: High adoption rates of tools across regions, with measurable improvements in how teams leverage systems and best practices to support opportunity creation and pipeline management.
  • Talent Enablement: Accelerated onboarding and ramp-up timelines for new CDT hires, improved time-to-productivity, and sustained capability development through structured training, coaching, and career pathways.
  • Performance Intelligence: Deployment of actionable dashboards and commercial health indicators that enable proactive pipeline management, improved forecasting accuracy, and data-informed decision making at the leadership and consultant level.


The base compensation range for this position is $180,000-230,000 per year. The actual base compensation offered within this range will be dependent on the individual's skills, experiences, and qualifications. This position will be eligible to participate in our annual discretionary bonus program.
