Position Overview

dormakaba is seeking a Manufacturing/Controls Engineering Intern based in Indianapolis, IN. This role will report directly to the Sr Manager Manufacturing Engineering. The Manufacturing/Controls Engineering Intern is responsible for troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing industrial automation systems in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

HIRING SALARY RANGE: Base Salary $ 21.00-$ 25.00 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.) Please visit our career site for more information on benefits.

What you will do
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and restore functionality of automated machinery andcontrolssystems.
  • Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on PLCs, sensors, VFDs, relays, and safety devices.
  • Support installation and commissioning ofcontrolsequipment in alignment with safety standards.
  • Follow LOTO, arc flash, and PPE standards while completing >20 safety observations annually.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve equipment reliability and support automation upgrades.
What we require
  • Pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in Engineering with anticipated graduation date of Winter 2026 through Spring 2029
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively across functions.
  • Availability to work full-time, onsite, 40 hours per week for 10-12 weeks (May - August 2026
What we prefer
  • Knowledge of PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, sensors, relays, safety interlocks, and industrial networking protocols.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair control systems; basic PLC programming/editing a plus.
  • Skilled at reading and interpreting schematics, wiring diagrams, and P&IDs.
  • Ability to work safely in a fast-paced production environment, including off-shifts and plant shutdowns.
  • College Senior
  • Prior Internship experience in thisrelatedfield.
