Job Overview We are seeking an experienced Lead Fire Alarm Technician to support a commercial office rebuild project in Nashville. This role requires a handson technician who can lead small teams, work independently from blueprints, and serve as a trusted point of contact for project leadership. The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise in fire alarm systems, along with experience in other lowvoltage systems. Top Skills & Core Requirements * 3+ years of handson experience with structured cabling, conduit installation, fire alarm systems, or nurse call systems * Proven ability to lead teams of 2-4 technicians in a commercial environment * Ability to read and interpret blueprints and design documents * Must have own tools (punch tool, snips, scissors, etc.) * Capable of leading a helper on site and working without direct manager oversight Primary Responsibilities * Install, configure, service, troubleshoot, and repair fire alarm systems * Program, start up, commission, and troubleshoot newly installed systems * Perform pointtopoint troubleshooting on: * Fire Alarm Systems * Access Control Systems * CCTV * Nurse Call and Intercom Systems (as required) * Communicate clearly with project leads and clients regarding job status, challenges, and completion timelines * Assist with installation projects and ensure successful execution * Identify system or installation issues and escalate appropriately * Review contract documents and design drawings prior to installation * Perform inspections to verify systems are installed and functioning according to code * Complete detailed project documentation and reports * Respond to emergency service calls as needed * Maintain strong written and verbal communication with internal teams and external clients * Perform additional duties as assigned Secondary Skills (Nice to Have) * Structured cabling * Lowvoltage systems * Access control * CCTV Additional Skills & Qualifications * Broad knowledge of lowvoltage systems including fire alarms, access control, CCTV, nurse call, and intercom systems * Strong technical and computer skills * Ability to use lifts for work beyond ladder height limitations * Ability to carry and climb ladders 8 feet or taller * Experience using hand tools and multimeters * Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and parts manuals * Comfortable reporting to a Project Manager and providing clear job updates * Ability to follow verbal and written instructions * Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Smyrna, TN. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
