Our team in Military Aircraft Group has an immediate opening for a (Heat Treat) Pyrometry Technician to join them to support our precision manufacturing and compliance with aerospace standards. In this on-site role at our aerospace plant in Torrance, CA (Los Angeles area), you will perform pyrometry (Calibrations, System Accuracy Tests, Temperature Uniformity Surveys) and metrology tasks. Reporting to the site Quality Assurance Supervisor, you will support production quality, process integrity, and compliance with AMS2750, NADCAP, and other aerospace standards.

To be considered for the Pyrometry Technician, here's what you'll need to bring with you:

  • High School diploma or GED preferred.Otherwise, demonstrated ability to understand and apply all verbal, written and computer work instructions or training in English, and demonstrated ability to perform simple addition, subtraction, multiplication and division

  • Minimum 2 years of working experience with heat treat pyrometry, AMS2750, and familiarity with NADCAP is required

  • Working experience with Calibration

  • Basic database, spreadsheet, and word-processing skills; comfortable with mainframe/shop computer systems.

  • Proficient in basic computer skills such as Microsoft Office

  • Strong analytical, oral/written communication, teamwork, planning/organizing, adaptability, and problem-solving abilities.

As a Pyrometry Technician, you will:

  • Perform periodic pyrometry surveys and calibrations on heat treat furnaces, ensuring compliance with AMS2750 and related aerospace standards.

  • Maintain, replace, and calibrate thermal sensors and instruments used in heat treatment; keep accurate logs and data.

  • Perform other calibration functions, as assigned by management

  • Plan work proactively to minimize production downtime and use sound judgment to resolve unusual problems without supervisory assistance.

  • Operate and perform preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and emergency start-up/shutdown procedures on heat treat furnaces (including vacuum furnaces) and related equipment.

  • Follow all HSE policies, participate in safety and technical training, and promote continual HSE improvement.

Salary Range Transparency:

Torrance, CA $28.00-$40.00 Hourly

Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range(s) listed is just one component of Moog's total compensation package for employees.
