Overview

How you can make a difference

We are seeking a Senior Product Manager, Catalog and Merchandising for HealthEquity Marketplace, a managed marketplace for health and wellness designed to help members get more health and healthcare per dollar. This role will define the strategic merchandising vision for Marketplace, establish the architecture to deliver and operationalize it, and drive inventory lifecycle and expansion strategy to grow our portfolio across three product orientations: Co-branded clinical programs, referral and affiliate partnerships, and direct commerce products. We are seeking a strategic and analytic merchandising expert with deep experience in consumer health and wellness categories. In this role you will identify opportunities for category and offering expansion, optimize the portfolio mix to maximize profitability and market differentiation, and develop strategic partnerships that help scale our revenue, margin, and efficiency.

This is a 0-to-1-to-scale opportunity to shape a rapidly growing commerce experience. This position reports to the GM of Marketplace and sits in the Product organization.

What you'll be doing

Catalog Definition and Architecture

Define the structure and scope of Marketplace inventory.
  • Establish category architecture across clinical programs, referral and affiliate partnerships, and direct commerce offerings.
  • Establish target categories, coverage targets, and portfolio depth.
  • Set quality and eligibility standards that determine which offerings belong in the Marketplace.
  • Maintain the catalog framework and lifecycle as new categories, partners, and offerings are added over time.

Category Expansion and Partner Development

  • Grow our inventory and assortment by identifying and onboarding new categories and partners.
  • Conduct ongoing landscape analysis across health and wellness categories to identify whitespace relative to member needs and spending patterns.
  • Develop prioritized partner and product shortlists that guide sourcing and purchasing decisions.
  • Work in close coordination with Purchasing and Business Development during partner evaluation and commercial discussions.
  • Define integration requirements and onboarding standards for new partners and offerings entering the Marketplace.
  • Own the full partner lifecycle from identification through launch, optimization, and termination.

Portfolio Management and Optimization

  • Optimize inventory to maximize performance, profitability, and member relevance.
  • Drive the right mix of offerings to maximize profitability and market differentiation.
  • Build and run the catalog performance framework: scorecards, review cadence, and criteria for scaling, optimization, or removal at the category and partner level.
  • Develop assortment evaluation frameworks that surface coverage gaps, redundancy, and competitive whitespace across categories.
  • Partner with Finance to build and maintain financial models that assess revenue forecasts, offering investment, and SKU productivity to support portfolio decisions.
  • Translate portfolio performance into clear recommendations for Marketplace leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.

Catalog Standards and Eligibility Governance

  • Define the standards that ensure every offering in the Marketplace is accurate and impactful.
  • Own taxonomy, product attribute requirements, and content standards across the full catalog.
  • Define and maintain the eligibility framework that classifies each offering as fully eligible, eligible with documentation, or not eligible under HSA and FSA rules.
  • Own the governance process that keeps eligibility determinations accurate and compliant as the catalog grows and regulatory guidance evolves.

Operating Model, Inventory, and Tooling

  • Build the operating model and implement the tools and processes required to manage catalog inventory at scale.
  • Define the intake, review, and approval workflows that govern how new offerings enter and move through the catalog.
  • Own the inventory management process that keeps live offerings accurate, current, and synced with partners.
  • Define decision rights and cross-functional cadence across Product, Purchasing, Legal, Compliance, and Marketing.
  • Own the requirements, vendor selection, and implementation accountability for the catalog technology stack, including product information management and partner feed ingestion infrastructure.

What you will need to be successful

  • 6-plus years of experience in product management, category management, ecommerce, or merchandising strategy.
  • Demonstrated experience building or operating in a managed marketplace, with ownership of supply quality, partner standards, and catalog governance at scale.
  • Direct category experience in health and wellness, or an adjacent consumer vertical, with working knowledge of category dynamics, eligibility constraints, and regulatory risk.
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills with a data-driven approach to evaluating category opportunities, partner performance, and portfolio decisions.
  • Command of structured catalog data: taxonomy design, attribute modeling, content standards, and eligibility governance across a large and growing product set.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
    • Experience implementing catalog tooling, including product information management platforms and partner feed ingestion infrastructure.
    • Familiarity with HSA and FSA eligibility requirements and SIGIS/IIAS standards, including the distinction between fully eligible, LMN-required, and ineligible offerings.
