Job Overview:

Provide patient services using diagnostic CT scan equipment. The technologist is competent in the production of quality images to be used by physicians for patient diagnosis and treatment. In addition, the individuals must be prepared to render quality care by exercising discretion and good judgment.

Qualification

  • Graduate of an approved school of Radiologic Technology
  • NJ Radiology license
  • ARRT Certification
  • BLS through the American Heart Association
  • CT Certification

Scheduling Requirements (non-exempt positions):

  • Nights- 11p-7a
  • Full-Time- including rotational on call schedule

Essential Functions:

  • Positions patient to obtain study as prescribed by standard operating procedures,
  • Able to position all anatomical parts as indicated by the Standard Operating Procedures,
  • Performs the preparation in order to insure the prompt commencement of the procedure,
  • Ensures all necessary equipment is at hand prior to starting the ordered examination,
  • Under the direction of a Radiologist, instructs and administers cleansing preps and contrast agents
  • Protects patients and other personnel by administrating proper radiation protection techniques
  • Protects the reproductive organs with appropriate apparel, if visualization of these areas is not required
  • Transfers and properly position patients for examinations in order to obtain desired radiographic results according to physician specifications
  • Assists physicians in performance of examinations,
  • As outlined in radiology policy and procedure and under the direction of the medical chairman the technologist will have proven competency in the administration of IV contrast media, to include venipuncture
  • Practices sterile techniques and prevents cross contamination,
  • Secures and returns supplies,
  • Maintains room and rooms stock
  • Responsible for necessary equipment maintenance recommendations and troubleshooting when indicated
  • Keeps all necessary equipment maintenance logs which pertain to preventative maintenance of Emergency service
  • Makes sure all necessary supplies are in room and restocks room accordingly,
  • Responsible for patient scheduling and smooth flow of schedule and patient preparation including contrast administration
  • Responsible for quality control of Cat scan examinations
  • Able to enter studies in RIS and HIS, and track cases
  • Able to split and fix studies in PACS as necessary
  • Performs a variety of related clerical tasks as necessary
  • Cooperates with all hospital personnel in a positive and professional manner, maintaining ethical relationships
  • Maintains a positive and loyal attitude towards employer
  • Rotates shifts covering weekends and on-call
  • Attends in-service training as required by the department
  • Able to attend the majority of educational in-services
  • Explains procedures to the patient and answers any questions prior to the commencement of the procedures,
  • Completes all necessary paperwork/documentation prior to the submitting of the procedure for interpretation
  • Assists in the instruction of student technologists
