Job Description

Summer Quality/Regulatory Affairs Summer Internship Program offers students the opportunity to gain experience in Public Health Reporting by laboratories to support disease surveillance, outbreak detection, population health monitoring and regulatory and mandated reporting.

This is an Onsite position at Wooddale, IL

Duration: 10 weeks beginning June 1 2026.

Mon - Fri: 8am to 4pm

Pay Range: 21.50/hr to 25/hr.



Responsibilities:
  • Update/validate a global list of tests with the appropriate SNOMED codes to support compliance with regulatory reporting requirements.

Knowledge gained:

  • SNOMED CT (Systematized Nomenclature of Medicine-Clinical Terms) - a globally recognized clinical vocabulary that provides standardized codes for medical concepts-such as diagnoses, symptoms, lab findings, procedures, and organisms.
  • Healthcare interoperability - the exchange of data among healthcare systems in a standard way
  • Regulatory compliance
  • Clinical Laboratory operations


Qualifications:
  • Completed Junior year in a four-year baccalaureate program in public health, medical laboratory science, human biology, microbiology, medical coding or another human biomedical science-related field
  • A minimum of 3.0 or better overall from an accredited institution
  • Completed course work in the following:
    • Public Health
    • Microbiology
    • Biology
    • Other medical/science-related courses
