Position summary: An intern supports the assigned design department by assisting with a variety of tasks, including special project assignments and active participation in project design and documentation, to gain practical experience and support their educational development. Immigration sponsorship or support (e.g. H1B, F-1 CPT/OPT/STEM OPT) is not available for this position, except for qualified candidates eligible for the TN visa classification.

The hourly rate associated with this position is $21.00 - $26.00 based on education level.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities


  • Assist senior or lead (Architects, Engineer, Interior Designer, Project Manager) with basic design tasks, including research, simple studies, and layout support



  • Help prepare drawings and documents for programming, schematic design, modeling, graphics, design development, and construction phases





  • Support the creation of presentation and marketing materials





  • Assist with construction phase activities, including participating in site visits, supporting RFI responses, reviewing shop drawings, and helping update record drawings. phase activities, including participating in site visits, supporting RFI responses, reviewing shop drawings, and helping update record drawings





  • Follow established quality control procedures and ask questions as needed





  • Learn and apply department and company standards and best practices





  • Develop basic design, analysis, and technical skills through hands-on experience





  • Participate in team meetings and collaborate with team members





  • Receive guidance and direction from supervisors and team leaders





  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, interior designers, and other multidisciplinary team members

Required Skills


  • Familiarity in using standard Microsoft Office for document creation and email communication





  • Ability to prepare well organized, clear, and concise written materials





  • Ability to support work with attention to detail and creativity





  • Developing presentation skills, including communicating ideas to different groups





  • Ability to manage time and workload effectively with guidance from supervisors





  • Strong teamwork skills with the ability to collaborate well with others



Required Experience

  • Full time student currently enrolled in a NAAB accredited program as detailed below:

    • Students who have completed at least three years in an accredited 5-year or 4-year (Bachelor of Science) Bachelor of Architecture (B Arch) program



OR






    • Students who have completed at least one year in an accredited Master of Architecture (M Arch) program





OR





    • Students who have earned their BS Arch degree (or equivalent) and have been accepted to enter an accredited Master of Architecture (M Arch) program





Preferred Qualifications



  • Coursework in related field
  • Previous internship experience
  • Familiarity with design and production software, with the ability to use these tools to develop project documents and collaborate with project team members


Working Conditions

Work is performed within a general office environment. Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require occasional standing and walking. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment.
