What to Expect

The Tesla Energy Products Field Quality & Reliability team ensures the field failure rate of Tesla hardware remains below warranty targets through drivingfailure analysis priorities, investigations and product improvements. Weare lookingfor aSr. Field ReliabilityEngineer tomake data-driven decisionstomonitorandimprovethefieldqualityand performanceofTesla products.The teamcollects real-time data fromthefleetof products such as Megapack, Powerwall, SolarRoofand Superchargers,andis responsible forretrieving, analyzing, and summarizing impacts on lifetime performance to cross-functional teamsto enable decision making for the development and implementation of improvements.


What You'll Do
  • Build robust, flexible, and automated software tools to enable complex analysis of real-time fleet
  • Apply statistical analysis to test (accelerated life) and field (life) data to inform reliability physics modeling/analyses and associated corrective actions
  • Answer complex questions on fleet usage and behavior to enable proactive monitoring, grow reliability, and minimize field failures
  • Work closely with Reliability and Design engineers to create/interpret/validate numeric models of fielded and in-test products
  • Contribute to the automation and standardization of our data pipelines
  • Apply statistical analysis such as Weibull failure forecasting, and work closely with engineers on the development of fixes and improvements
  • Monitor the efficacy of mitigation measures
  • Own warranty accrual for the organization by working with engineering, finance and accounting teams

What You'll Bring
  • Degree in quantitative discipline (e.g., Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering) or equivalent experience
  • Strong knowledge of data structures, architectures, and languages such as SQLand Python
  • Solid understanding of statistics (Weibull distribution, Maximum Likelihood Estimation, Bayesian methods, Monte Carlo analysis, etc.)
  • Strong knowledge of physics and engineering principles
  • General Knowledge of data pipelining (Airflow Pipelines, ETL, Py Spark)
  • Experience and interest in data visualization techniques
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

    Expected Compensation
    $91,600 - $195,600/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits

    Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
