DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you will teach inmates all aspects of the plumbing trade, including standard practices, methods, and procedures related to plumbing systems; hot and cold water distribution; drainage systems; heating systems; fire sprinkler systems; and general building plumbing. You will deliver both hands-on shop instruction and on-the-job training to support inmates' vocational development, covering general plumbing maintenance, preventive maintenance, and the installation of new fixtures and equipment. Responsibilities include conducting classroom instruction using an established trade curriculum, maintaining order and discipline during classroom and work assignments, and keeping accurate records of inmate training progress, attendance, and work details. In addition, you will supervise and guide inmate work crews in completing plumbing work orders as part of their practical training, develop and assign daily schedules, and inspect finished assignments to ensure quality and compliance with trade standards.

- Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
- Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday.
- This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $51,868.00 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Five years of experience in the inspection, maintenance, repair, assembly, and installation of pipes, fittings, and fixtures used in heating, water, and drainage systems; or
- Completion of an approved apprenticeship in the plumbing trade; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training which includes one year of journey level work in the plumbing trade.
Other Requirements:
- You must successfully complete basic training in Elizabethtown, PA.

- You must be able to perform essential job functions.

- You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
