DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this role, you will be responsible for receiving mail from the post office, which arrives in bags and trays, including certified registered mail that requires a signature upon delivery at the Dock. Your duties will involve sorting through the incoming mail to identify and separate items related to the Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV) and the Bureau of Driver Licensing (BDL), ensuring that these are placed in the appropriate grey bins for efficient delivery. Additionally, you will open and sort the mail, addressing any torn packages, and logging as well as scanning bulk shipments. The use of a mail slitter machine will be necessary for opening envelopes, and it is essential to maintain the cleanliness of this equipment. Bulk packages will be scanned and recorded into the Work Tracking System (WTS) using a handheld scanner, with the information subsequently downloaded into the system for tracking purposes. You will need to carefully read addresses to differentiate between pipeline items and those designated for delivery to various locations. The position requires making at least two trips each day for the pickup and delivery of mail. Furthermore, you will be tasked with removing all contents from envelopes, flattening sheet work, and eliminating any staples and paper clips to ensure that the materials are prepared for processing.
