Symetra has an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Sr. Absence Consultant!

About the Role

This Senior Absence Consultant position will be a perfect fit for someone looking to take the next step in their career. You'll provide STD and absence expertise in the sale of Absence Management, ADA, and Paid Family Medical Leave. You will be the primary contributor and presenter to brokers and prospective clients to represent our product capabilities through in-person and virtual meetings. This role has required travel for presentations.

What you will do



  • Participates in most finalist meetings when absence is being presented.
  • Attend most capabilities meetings related to Symetra's broker partnerships to highlight Symetra's value proposition and increase brand visibility/reputation.
  • Represents Symetra at industry events and conferences to network with consulting peers and prospects across the market.
  • Develops deep relationships within broker network to gather feedback about Symetra and competitive intelligence about our competitors.
  • Partners with Distribution to develop competitor specific sales strategies.
  • Reviews leave of absence policy documents and provides feedback to Underwriting and Sales during the pre-sale process.
  • Acts as primary support to the RFP team.
  • Reviews requests for non-standard claim administration and collaborates with Claims leadership, Claim Practices, and other stakeholders to drive solutions.
  • Works with Sales and Account Management to upskill absence knowledge and confidence.
  • Equips others to tell the Symetra story and value proposition.
  • May deliver broker educational presentations, such as CE trainings or Lunch & Learns.

Compensation

Salary Range:$106,400 - $115,000 plus eligibility for annual bonus programs

Who you are



  • College degree or equivalent work experience.
  • 8-10 years of cumulative, relevant experience.
  • Expertise in STD, Absence programs (FMLA, Unpaid State Leave, Company Leave policies) ADA/PWFA, and PFML program design and administration
  • Hands-on experience supporting pre-sale efforts, including RFP responses, policy reviews, and complex case consultations
  • Strong familiarity with the broker/consultant ecosystem and how buying decisions are made
  • CLMS designation (or similarly relevant professional certification)
  • High school diploma required.
