We have an exciting opportunity for you to join Symetra's2026 ITSecurity Analyst Internship!

About the Program

We are looking to hire a highly motivated Security Analyst Intern to join our Information Security Team. This internship provides hands-on experience inidentifyingand mitigating security threats, monitoring networks, and supporting the organization's cybersecurity initiatives. The ideal candidate has a passion for cybersecurity, attention to detail, and a strong analytical mindset.

Symetra's Internship Program for Summer 2026 is entirely remote - all interns will learn and work in a virtual setting. The internship duration is12 weeks, running from May 18 - August 7 or June 15 - September 4.

Potential projects, responsibilities, & opportunities:



  • Monitor Security Systems:Assistin monitoring security tools, including SIEM, firewalls, IDS/IPS, to detect and respond to threats


  • Threat Analysis and Investigation: With help from senior team member, analyze security alerts, investigate potential incidents, and escalate issues as needed


  • Vulnerability Assessment: Support vulnerability scans, and penetration testing efforts toidentifysecurity vulnerabilities


  • Audit Support: Receive audit reports and help manage responses from owners and remediation plans.


  • Incident Response Support:Assistin documenting and responding to security incidents under the guidance of senior analyst on the team


  • Security Awareness and Compliance: Help develop cybersecurity training modules and ensure compliance with security policies



Your education, experience, and skills:



  • Currentlypursuing or recently completed aBachelor's Degreein Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field


  • Basic understanding of network security, firewalls, encryption, and security protocols


  • Experience with SIEM tools


  • Familiarity with ethical hacking, penetration testing, or security frameworks (NIST, ISO 27001)


  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills


  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills



Compensation:

Hourly Range: $22.00-25.00

Work Authorization

Employer work visa sponsorship and support are not provided for this role. Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States at hire and mustmaintainauthorization to work in the United States throughout their employment with our company.
