About Corewell Health South

The health system comprises threehospitals, a regional cancer center, rehabilitation centers, two long-term care residences, home care and hospice services, and 34 affiliate physician practice locations. We provide both inpatient and outpatientmedical servicesthroughout Southwest Michigan.

The Vice President, Medical Group serves as a liaison to the community and collaborate with leadership to ensure effective and efficient standardization and adoption of best practices across physician practices. This role establishes policies and operational procedures, supports strategic planning, marketing, operations, financial management, quality initiatives, regulatory compliance, and system integration in area of responsibility. The Vice President, Medical Group assures that a high quality of service is provided to patients and physicians and that all activities are in accordance with the mission, vision, values, and standards of care for CHS.

Essential Functions

  • Facilitate communication, continuity of patient care, patient safety and utilization of resources between divisions and medical staff to achieve maximum benefits of a collaborative model. Collaborate with appropriate governing bodies, management, medical staff, and other clinical and managerial leaders in developing, implementing, reviewing, revising, and monitoring performance improvement activities.

  • Monitor operations and budget in order to ensure accountability. Review and approve annual budgets, anticipating future needs based on projected census and acuity, and other factors. Develop and assess new staffing models that positively impact patient care, cost of care and provider and staff.

  • Chair/serve on a number of continuing and ad hoc committees and community boards. Participate at Leadership Team South meetings by providing weekly updates on strategic initiatives and other appropriate activities. Represent the organization to other groups, organizations, and the general public. Ensure the accuracy of public information materials. Inform the governing body and staff of current organizational, community and industry trends.

  • Comply with applicable laws and regulations. Evaluate services in order to ensure the strategic initiatives, policies, procedures and standards are followed. Develop and implement strategic growth plans for all specialties within the medical group. Ensure maximum utilization and regulatory compliance of services offered.

  • Oversee physician contracting to ensure compliant and competitive compensation for employed providers of CHS. Oversight of physician practices, demonstrating effective change management leadership, to implement best practices and standardized work (utilizing lean principles) across the system to improve access, efficiency, quality, safety and cost effectiveness. Oversight of physician practice integrations and/or joint ventures.

  • Manage operations in accordance with established fiscal parameters. Plan, develop, implement and evaluate programs.

  • Work with CHS leadership to select endorsed practices that must be implemented, identifies the need for a system or local clinical quality, or safety improvement process, establishes and leads projects to ensure their adoption across the entire system engagement. Ensure alignment between physician practices and health system on strategic goals, mission, vision and values.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in clinically related field. Required

  • Master's Degree in business, health care or related field. Required

  • 10 years of relevant experience of relevant experience in leadership. Required

  • Demonstrate knowledge of health care policies, reimbursement practices and accreditation/licensure/certification standards. Required

  • Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership techniques, customer service, and coordination of people and resources. Required
