The Alaka`ina Foundation Family of Companies (FOCs) is possibly looking for a Military Working Dog (MWD) Casualty Care Program Coordinator to provide support for our government customer in San Antonio, TX. *****This is a 100% Remote position with some travel required.*****

DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for managing the efficient and effective coordination and accomplishment of planning for the Canine Combat Casualty Care Program.
  • Supports and provides guidance on the analysis of activities, projects, program requirements, coordinating with other divisions, offices and directorates as appropriate.
  • Presents, explains, and justifies recommended project/program management activities to senior leadership.
  • Recommends and/or implements projects/programs that shape or improve the structure, effectiveness, efficiency, or productivity of operations, primary missions, goals and objectives.
  • Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, including all administrative tasks and sites involved in the project.
  • Coordinates activities and resources for projects that impact multiple branches/committees or for multiple projects.
  • Coordinates presentations/attendance by Army veterinarians at Morbidity/Mortality reviews.
  • Provides administrative management and support to the K9 Combat Casualty Care Committee (K9C4).
  • Expected to work in coordination with other DHA Veterinary Services staff to support programmatic initiatives with internal and external stakeholders for the K9C4.
  • Support may include meeting coordination, creating agendas, creating minutes, development of process maps and presentations, tasks associated with adding new K9C4 members, and development of written policies and procedures.
  • Directs and participates in special assignments and studies in areas of critical importance for the K9C4.
  • Takes meeting minutes and action items during meetings and performs basic follow-up.
  • Maintain records and administrative databases.
  • Greet visitors and callers, route and resolve information requests.
  • Prepares reports for leadership regarding status of K9C4.
  • Assists in development of presentations.
  • Authors journal articles.
  • Writes clinical practice guidelines for Canine Combat Casualty Care for both providers of both veterinary and non-veterinary providers of care.
  • Coordinate meetings, sustainment, and improvement of the MWD Trauma Registry (TR) with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Review, coordinate, develop, and/or define registry requirements including but not limited business rules, data elements, dashboards, and summaries.
  • Coordinate weekly with personnel abstracting into the MWD TR to monitor progress and ensure all sources for canine casualty and Disease Non-Battle Injury (DNBI) data are being abstracted.
  • Support data abstraction tasks including patient care documentation sources, quality control, and quality assurance.
  • Coordinates and and/or develops presentations, reports, data analytics, data requests, and training and education products.
  • Performs analysis of registry data semi-annually and presents results to leadership and K9C4.
  • Serves as a canine subject matter expert for personnel abstracting into the MWDTR.
  • Works to bring canine casualty and DNBI documents from the operational and operational training environments, the Veterinary Medical Center Europe, (previously known as Dog Center Europe), the LTC Daniel E. Holland Military Working Dog Hospital at Lackland Air Force Base (AFB), and every other place military working dogs are treated.

REQUIRED DEGREE/EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's degree (a veterinary professional is highly preferred) from an accredited college or university or be able to show documented comparable experience.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience in military medicine, preferably on active duty or reserve status.
  • At least 1-2 years' experience both working independently and in groups of Two (2) or more with successful work products and will have excellent verbal and written communication skills to communicate effectively with both military and civilian veterinarians (DVM/VMD), physicians (MD/DO) and PhD-level staff to coordinate and execute actions.
  • Ability to positively interact with both technical and business-oriented team members, to work effectively in a demanding and fast-paced environment, and possess excellent problem-solving skills, and have skilled knowledge of personal computer (PC) operations and office automation applications.
  • Prior experience in a professional position providing program oversight, training, education, guidance, and technical expertise to interdisciplinary/multi-service teams of professionals.

REQUIRED CITIZENSHIP AND CLEARANCE:

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Must have Active Secret Clearance
