Resident Supervisor - Summer Student Program, JAX-GM The Summer Student Program is a signature education program of The Jackson Laboratory. The Resident Supervisor manages the residential life program within the JAX Summer Student Program at The Jackson Laboratory for Genomic Medicine including eating meals with students, organizing group outings and activities, mentoring conflict resolution/mediation, enforcing expectations, and maintaining and organizing supplies. The RS is expected to participate in the weekly staff and house meetings and an on-call and regular duty schedule. With oversight and guidance from the Program Director of Undergraduate and STEM Education, the Resident Supervisor facilitates engaging and community-building programs and activities, fosters community harmony through communication and problem-solving, and ensures student safety through awareness and compliance with JAX policies. The Resident Supervisor leads a cohort of approximately 10 undergraduate students ranging in age from 18-21. These participants are selected through a competitive application process that draws nearly 600 applications from around the US. Selected students exhibit personal qualities including curiosity and a passion for science, personal maturity, and teamwork. The Resident Supervisor lives with students in a large residence with a private bedroom. Residence Supervisors are expected to be onsite at JAX the week before the program starts and are expected to live in the student residence for the entire Summer Student Program.
