Salary range:
A reasonable estimate for the Jr. Specialist position is $55,000 at Step 1 or $58,600 at Step 2. Application Window Open date: February 23, 2026 Next review date: Tuesday, Mar 10, 2026 at 11:59pm (Pacific Time) Final date: Tuesday, Feb 23, 2027 at 11:59pm (Pacific Time) Position description The Plant Sciences Department is hiring a Junior Specialist to work on alfalfa, hemp, and spinach breeding programs, including field, greenhouse, and laboratory activities. Incumbent would be involved in research experiments, collecting data, and maintaining research program activities leading to research presentations and publications, grant proposals, and germplasm and cultivar releases. In addition, the Jr. Specialist is required to hold valid driver's license, have a driving record that is in accordance with local policies/procedures, and/or enroll in the California Employer Pull Notice Program. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DESIGNATED AREAS OF EXPERTISE II. PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCE AND ACTIVITY (5% EFFORT) III. UNIVERSITY AND PUBLIC SERVICE (5% EFFORT) Per UCD-APM 330, it is inappropriate to appoint an individual with a Master's or Doctoral degree in the relevant discipline or a baccalaureate degree plus three or more years of experience as a Junior Specialist. Candidates who hold a Masters or Doctoral degree will be disqualified from the Jr. Specialist position. The Department will not offer visa sponsorship for this position. The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate that they are legally authorized to work in the United States. Qualifications Basic qualifications
