Responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Health Information Management department, including managing a team of HIM professionals, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and optimizing health information management processes. Also responsible for collaborating with healthcare providers, administrators, and other departments to promote accurate and efficient documentation, safeguarding patient privacy, and supporting information management needs.
Essential Functions: -Supervise and lead a team of HIM professionals, providing guidance, support, and performance feedback. -Collaborate with healthcare providers, administrators, and other departments to address health information management needs and resolve related issues. -Oversee the management and maintenance of health records, ensuring accurate and complete documentation in compliance with regulatory requirements. -Coordinate coding activities, ensuring compliance with coding guidelines (e.g., ICD-10-CM, CPT). -Collaborate with IT and clinical departments to optimize the functionality and utilization of EHR systems. -Oversee the release of patient health information to authorized individuals and entities, ensuring compliance with privacy regulations. -Lead quality improvement initiatives within the HIM department, such as conducting audits, monitoring key performance indicators, and implementing corrective actions to enhance operational efficiency and accuracy.
