STV is seeking a Geologist to join our Geotechnical department out of our Glasgow, Kentucky office.

The successful candidate will have a BS in Geology from an accredited university and the ability to seek Professional Registration in Kentucky or a surrounding state. Relevant experience includes:

  • Soil and Rock Core Logging in support of Subsurface Investigations.
  • Technical report writing.
  • Assisting with geotechnical report preparation
  • Performing site reconnaissance and inspections.

In addition, the candidate should possess a strong technical inclination, be self-motivated to take ownership of challenging problems, and possess excellent written & verbal communication skills.

Willingness to travel on a weekly basis with other team members to remote project locations as needed.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordination and oversight of drilling activities, other subsurface investigations, including classifying soil, and collecting soil and rock samples in accordance with project requirements
  • Collaborate with team members to obtain necessary information to complete subsurface investigation reports.
  • Communicate and process technical information from partners and vendors for project planning and execution.
  • Perform geologic research to support geotechnical investigations
  • Assist in field geophysical investigations including ground penetrating radar (GPR) and electrical resistivity (ER)

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in geology
  • A valid driver's license in good standing.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical and organizational capabilities.
  • Candidate must be both a reliable team player and self-starter.
  • Position requires lifting equipment (up to 50 pounds) and working outdoors in all conditions.
  • Occasional night and weekend work may be required.
  • Availability to work overtime with some evenings and weekends in the field. Travel required.
  • Drive for continual learning and to "be the best".

Compensation Range:

$64,848.58 - $74,112.66
