Status: Exempt/Officer


Grade: 11


Salary Range: $85,457 - $122,975


Actual compensation within the pay range will be decided based on factors including, but not limited to, skills, prior relevant experience, and specific work location.


Location: Hybrid within MA, NY, VT, CT, RI




Purpose/Objective:


The VP, Environmental Specialist is responsible for supporting all commercial lending. The VP, Environmental Specialist is responsible for the day-to-day environmental due diligence of the lending portfolio of the bank. The VP, Environmental Specialist is versed in the principles of environmental risk oversight in the context of lending. The VP, Environmental Specialist is responsible to review/revise policy and procedures as needed and to ensure that the vendors follow our Master Service Agreement.



Key Accountabilities:




  • Review environmental due diligence reports and all environmental assignments to ensure all aspects of the bank's Master Service Agreement are met. Promptly answer daily questions from internal employees and external vendors relating to environmental reports in process, completed reports and review, or environmental policy and procedures.
  • Ensure continued compliance of policy and program with financial regulatory and bank requirements.
  • Monitor work in progress via Internet based tracking system (RealWired).
  • Remain current with financial and environmental regulations as they apply to the lending process.
  • Responsible for the bidding and engaging due diligence services as requested, reviewing the due diligence reports upon receipt from the external environmental vendors and reporting the results to internal line.
  • Conduct annual review of approved environmental lists and vendor scorecard ratings. Review new vendor applications and sample reports and provide recommendation to First Vice President-Appraisal & Environmental Officer for changes to the approved list.
  • Complete other related duties as assigned.
  • Responsible for completing a quarterly review of 44BC commercial environmental review in Archer to ensure compliance with SBA guidelines, rules, regulations, and bank's prescribed policies/practices/procedures necessary to reduce risk and uphold ethical standards related to and required by necessary due diligence.
  • Ensures compliance with all banking laws, rules, regulations, and prescribed policies/practices/procedures necessary to reduce risk and uphold ethical standards related to and required by one's duties.



Education:



  • Bachelor's degree in science or engineering, preferably in environmental science/engineering (i.e. chemistry, geology, civil or chemical engineering), or a minimum of 7 years environmental due diligence and site assessment experience



Experience:



  • 5+ years of banking experience preferred



Skills & Knowledge:



  • Computer literacy in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong familiarity with environmental site remediation projects, regulatory closure process, estimating corrective cost, SBA SOP, environmental insurance, regulatory requirements, UST Cleanup Fund, vapor intrusion, Brownfield lending and ASTM E1527, 1528, etc.
