Your Role on the Team

Under the direction of the Vice Chair of Research the SRA will be responsible for assisting with day-to-day operations of assigned research projects with particular emphasis on IRB submission, maintenance and reporting. The candidate will assist in obtaining background research materials, obtaining information on grants, and elements for IRB application. The candidate will work with principle investigators, fellows, residents and students to further the research goals of the department.

The ideal candidate will be extremely organized and detail oriented. Must have basic experience working with research search engines and literature databases. Must have excellent written and organization skills in order to summarize and categorize research articles. Skills related to working with research teams and coordinating research preferred.

To successfully address these tasks on time, the SRA must have a broad set of intelligence, be extremely diligent and task-oriented, and an efficient worker.


What It Takes to be Successful

Required:

  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.
  • Organizational skills to maintain records and coordinate other tasks as required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of personal computers and relevant software programs (e.g., data entry, word processing, spreadsheets.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, verbally, and in writing, with faculty, staff, and supervisors.
  • Ability to communicate effectively about task deadlines and ability to complete on time.
  • Knowledge of RED Cap, SurveyMonkey, Qualtrics, Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work independently and report to Principal Investigator on a regular basis and in a timely manner.
  • Ability to manage competing demands / assignments / deadlines
  • Familiarity with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) to ensure confidentiality, privacy and security of patient information.
  • Excellent organizational skills to keep accurate records.
  • Proficient writing skills to prepare/compose/review a variety of materials with accuracy and completeness.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a moderate volume of work efficiently and meet deadlines with frequent interruptions and changing priorities.
  • Ability to be punctual and maintain a satisfactory attendance record.

Preferred:

  • Ability to creatively solve technology problems.
  • Understanding of medical terminology.
