Prep Sander

Position Summary

Performs operations to sand materials. Work on a variety of parts as assigned performing sanding operations for correct smoothness to ensure completion of work is to quantity and quality standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Walk to staging area and slide unfinished wood frame to workstation.
• Lift frame to sanding table.
• Use pneumatic orbital sander (jitterbug) and apply light pressure to smooth out the wood frame.
• Use glue and wood putty to fill in cracks with a chisel and putty knife.
• Set down frame and slide to staging area.
• Sweep up any wood dust that wasn't collected in the sanding booths at the end of the shift.
• May perform other duties/ special or non-routine assignments as instructed.

Minimum Job Requirements:

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Minimum of one (1) year relevant work experience
• Basic understanding of sanding methods in order to operate machinery (usually less than 90 days of training required).
