About the opportunity

SWCA Environmental Consultants is seeking an internally-focused Lead Project Manager - Business Operations with attention to detail and strong communication skills to support SWCA's Program Management Team, a group within SWCA working with some of our largest nationwide clients.

Our Program Management Team is a nationwide, enterprise-scale group of strategic consultants designed to innovate and deliver industry-leading service to grow our business alongside SWCA's largest and most complex client relationships. The successful candidate will be part of a dynamic culture where we've created a climate where people are motivated to bring their best work to help us to grow and prosper.

This is a full-time, salaried role with regular status, benefits eligibility, and a standard 40-hour work week. Occasional evenings and/or weekend work may be needed to fulfill position responsibilities. This position provides the flexibility of working remotely, in a hybrid capacity, or in-office in the domestic US. Occasional travel may be required.

What you will accomplish

The selected Lead Project Manager - Business Operations will be responsible for supporting and leading internal initiatives and projects, building systems and processes to drive organization compliance with contractual obligations, and support analysis, shred visibility, and action around key program and company Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). This role will partner with internal stakeholders to design, implement, and maintain standardized operating procedures (SOPs) that promote efficiency, mitigate risk, and ensure alignment with client and vendor agreements at portfolio scale. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, process-driven, and skilled at bridging the gap between operations, legal, and project delivery teams. Responsibilities will include:

  • Support company-wide or Program Management strategic initiatives including:
    • In collaboration with Program Management leadership, establish SOPs for key back of office program management support needs and lead tracking, execution, and compliance with company procedures.
    • Support establishment of new client and service Programs.
    • Provide project management support, tracking, and meeting coordination to support strategic initiatives
    • Provide regular financial metric tracking/reporting and support development and tracking of Program Management strategic initiatives
  • Manage contract compliance and support initiatives for Program Management clients including:
    • Identifying and tracking compliance with contract terms (e.g., safety, training, reporting, volume growth incentive management, drug and alcohol testing programs, or other requirements)
    • Serve as critical contract point of contact (POC) with clients for functions including contract compliance, invoicing, etc.
    • Establish and manage subcontractor, vendor, and expense management procedures in compliance with master contracts.
    • Partner with internal stakeholders (Project Controls Managers, Project Activation, Project Accounting Specialists) to develop, implement and continuously improve SOPs for contract setup, review, compliance tracking and close out.
    • Drive compliance of safety policies and report requirements to ensure overall team safety.
    • Establish templates, workflows, and checklists to streamline internal processes and ensure consistency across projects.
    • Train internal stakeholders on new procedures, compliance requirements and contract best practices.
    • Track and report progress, risks and compliance status to leadership and stakeholders.
    • Support and/or manage projects including overall responsibilities for budgets, schedules, technical staff deployment and mentoring, client relations, change management, report writing and technical report QA/QC and proposal scope and costing as appropriate
    • Maintain a collaborative work environment and positive morale between SWCA staff, subcontractors, and clients.

Experience and qualifications for success

  • Minimum of a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business, environmental science, construction management, project management or a closely related field.
  • Minimum of six (6) years of relevant, progressively responsible A/E/C (Architecture, Engineering, and Construction) or management consulting experience, including at least three (3) years in project management, contracts administration, or compliance operations experience.
  • Experience leading client interactions, including invoicing, contract administration, and serving as a client liaison for key clients.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in MS-Office, MS-Outlook, Excel, Adobe Acrobat, Smartsheet, PowerBi and Internet/Intranet technologies.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and implementing standard operating procedures or process improvements.
  • Applicants must have valid driver's license and be able to meet SWCA's driver requirements.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Deltek Vision, Vantagepoint, or similar software.
  • Demonstrated experience working in a fast-paced work environment and a desire to work in a highly collaborative team atmosphere.

Preferred:

  • Eight (8) years of relevant, progressively responsible industry experience, including at least five (5) years in project management, contracts administration, or compliance operations.
  • Experience providing internal operational support for enterprise-scale client programs within a consulting environment

An employee in this US-based position can expect salary of $82,992/year to $109,200/year. Actual pay within this range may depend on experience, qualifications, geographic location, client requirements where applicable, and other factors permitted by law. Regular-status employees are also eligible for performance bonuses.
