Job Description
The Office Assistant provides administrative and clerical support for the SOAR ASAP program. including assisting students and providing customer service for in-person visitors and by phone.

Duties include

  • Provides administrative support to disseminate general information to students and the campus community;
  • Ensure information on the website, intranet, relevant campus publications and handouts are up-to-date;
  • Manage office calendars and schedule meetings and appointments
  • Handle database management such as compiling data, prepare standard and requested reports, generate correspondence and prepare presentation materials, among other things; and
  • Audit and maintain an inventory of all assistive technology.


The position is grant-supported and the length of the assignment is dependent on funding.

Employees of Harford Community College, including instructors for online and virtual courses, must be residents of Maryland or the contiguous states of Delaware, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia or the District of Columbia; non-residents are expected to relocate to meet this requirement.
Required Education
A high school diploma or GED
Required Experience
One year of clerical, office, or related experience and computer proficiency in a Windows-based PC environment are required.
Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Applicants must be proficient in a Windows-based computer environment, including Office 365, MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills are required.
  • Ability to provide customer service for in-person visitors and over the phone

Preferred Qualifications
Experience using Banner or other Student Information System or large database; and experience with Argos or other reporting program are preferred.
Hours per Week 20
General Weekly Work Schedule
20 hours per week, scheduled Monday through Friday; final work schedule to be determined by the supervisor.
