Position Summary
The University of St. Francis, a Catholic, Franciscan institution in Joliet, Illinois, invites applications for a nine-month, full-time faculty position as BSN program director in the Leach College of Nursing, beginning August 2026. Rank will depend on the candidate's qualifications. We will consider candidates who hold a doctorate in Nursing or a related field. Interested applicants with limited teaching or leadership experience will be considered and enrolled in the Faculty Mentoring program, designed to develop them into seasoned faculty. This aligns with the Franciscan approach to developing academics, beginning where they are and using transformative approaches to academic development.

The program director reports to the Dean of Nursing, provides oversight of the BSN program, is expected to collaborate on curriculum, assessment, and other academic matters, and teaches courses. Our faculty is known for its commitment to education and nursing development through a leading-edge, student-focused educational methodology.
The Leach College of Nursing offers CCNE-accredited undergraduate and graduate programs. We serve traditional, aged, and adult students through a variety of learning modalities.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Uphold and fulfill the mission and philosophy of the Leach College of Nursing.

Participate in and promote a culture of continuous quality improvement.

Provide leadership and promote growth and development of the BSN program. Coordinate program activities, supervise and guide adjunct faculty, promote student success and growth, implement college and university policies, facilitate program marketing, assume responsibility for data collection and report completion, and serve as a member of the Leach College of Nursing Administrative team. Teach selected courses and participate in scholarly activities.

Provide service to the University, Leach College of Nursing, and the community: Serve on appropriate University/College and Governance Committees; and Participate in University/College activities including faculty, student, and alumni; Cooperate in the recruitment and retention of students; Engage in scholarly endeavors and research for professional and scholarly growth.

Participate in professional programs and attend workshops and/or classes for personal enrichment; Participate in College projects in the area of expertise.
Minimum Requirements

  • Master's degree in nursing
  • Current RN license or eligibility for licensing in Illinois
  • Two years of experience in clinical nursing practice
  • Teaching experience in baccalaureate and/or graduate nursing programs
  • Evidence of self-development through participation in continuing education offerings, advanced study, scholarly pursuit, and/or professional and clinical activities
  • Willingness to uphold and fulfill the mission, vision, values, and traditions of the University of St. Francis
  • Ability to perform the physical requirements of the position

Preferred Requirements


  • DNP or Ph.D in nursing or related field
  • Experience in nursing leadership.

Hours/Shift/Work Schedule
This is a full-time, nine-month contract position, August - May each year. We offer a competitive compensation and benefit package. Variable hours, with online courses. May have day/evening/night/weekend/summer courses.
Physical Requirements of Position
Work is performed in classroom and office settings with minimal exposure to health or safety hazards. Substantial time is spent working on a computer. This is sedentary work which requires the following physical activities: sitting, walking, bending, stooping, finger dexterity, repetitive motions, talking, hearing and visual acuity.
