Temporary Program Assistant I:

The Housing Opportunities Commission of Montgomery County (HOC) was established in 1974 to better respond to the County's need for affordable housing. HOC is authorized to acquire, own, lease, and operate housing; to provide for the construction or renovation of housing; obtain financial assistance from any public or private source to assist its housing activities; and arrange for social services, resident services, and daycare.

Job Description:

The Temporary Program Assistant I will be responsible for administrative support to staff working with the Housing Choice (HCV) and Project Based (PBV) Programs. This individual will also provide customer service to internal and external customers. This position will be located at Derwood, MD

Example of Duties:

  • Provide administrative support to staff within the Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) and project based (PBV) programs
  • Provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers
  • Schedule and monitor client and applicant appointments
  • Generate mass mailings and scan client and applicant correspondence
  • Assign and disseminate incoming correspondence
  • Process weekly and monthly reports
  • Schedule informal hearings
  • Perform data entry and other clerical tasks
  • Track appointments and other project tasks
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

Experience

  • At least two (2) years of administrative support experience

Education:

  • High school diploma/GED required
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted. Low income residents in Montgomery County with the above qualifications are encouraged to apply

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Strong computer skills (Yardi, Google Suite, Outlook, Aodocs experience preferred)
  • Strong experience with various databases such as Excel, Word and Powerpoint
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to handle sensitive information confidentially
  • Commitment to HOC's mission and values
