Argo Program Coordinator - 138574

This position will support the multi-institution U.S. Argo Program. Argo is a global array of more than 4,000 autonomous profiling floats that measure essential ocean variables. The U.S. Argo Program comprises six U.S. institutions responsible for maintaining the array and for the curation and dissemination of the resulting data.

The primary responsibility of this position is to serve as a Program Coordinator, providing logistical support and operational coordination for the U.S. Argo Program. The Program Coordinator will work closely with the U.S. Argo Program Co-Chairs and the International Argo Program Coordinator to facilitate coordination among contributing U.S. institutions; track program metrics; interface with funding agencies; support reporting requirements; contribute to outreach materials and program websites; and assist with coordination with commercial partners.Position involves providing general research support to U.S. Argo principal investigators, focused on activities that help demonstrate the program's scientific value. This additional role requires experience with scientific programming.

• Bachelor's degree in physics, oceanography or a relevant applied science or math or an equivalent combination of experience and training. Master's in physical science or engineering preferred but not required.

• Broad computer skills and experience with web design, electronic publishing, preparation of documents and presentations.

• Ability to travel internationally and domestically

• Excellent oral and written communications skills including experience developing material for websites and outreach.

• Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize complex tasks. Ability to coordinate and run meetings.

• Strong interpersonal skills, with effective written and verbal communication abilities.

• Highly organized, self-motivated, and able to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

• Proven ability to multitask and work independently while effectively organizing and prioritizing a high volume of responsibilities to meet deadlines. Skilled at quickly adapting to changing priorities while exercising sound judgment and taking initiative.

• Job offer is contingent upon satisfactory clearance based on Background Check results.

• Must have access to reliable transportation.

• Occasional evenings and weekends may be required.

• Able to obtain passport for international travel.
