The Clinical Decision Support (CDS) Engineering team, a unit within the Optum InsightTechnology organization is responsible for building commercial products helping payers and providers with administrative and clinician focused CDS solutions. We are seeking a lead engineer who can bring deep expertise across software, data, and AI/ML disciplines to enhance existing CDS solutions as well as lead the development of exciting new products. CDS is an area that truly touches payers, providers, as well as members and one where you can have a huge impact on improving the healthcare system for everyone.

You'll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely * from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges. For all hires in the Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. area, you will be required to work in the office a minimum of four days per week.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of software engineers in the development of high-quality software
  • Design, develop, and test software applications in accordance with established enterprise standards and best practices
  • Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into technical specifications
  • Mentor and guide junior software engineers, providing technical leadership and support
  • Conduct code reviews to ensure code quality and adherence to coding standards
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends and technologies, and incorporate them into the development process
  • Participate in the planning and estimation of development tasks and projects

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
  • 5+ years in the software engineering profession
  • 5+ years development experience with languages such as Java, .NET, or Python
  • 5+ years development experience with front-end technologies such as ReactJS, Angular, or Typescript
  • 3+ years of Public Cloud experience
  • 1+ years of AI/ML development experience
  • 1+ years of Healthcare Industry experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Lead Software Engineer or similar role
  • Experience with software development methodologies such as Agile and Scrum
  • Experience with cloud computing platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud
  • Experience with DevOps practices and tools
  • Experience with microservices architecture
  • Solid understanding of software development best practices and design patterns
  • Knowledge of containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes
  • Familiarity with front-end technologies such as React, Angular, or Vue.js
  • Proven excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Proven solid communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment
