THE POSITION

Are you ready to roll up your sleeves and make a real impact at the Nolde Forest Environmental Education Center? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you! The Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) is looking for a reliable and responsible Park Maintenance Worker. In this vital position, you will play a key role in keeping the center's buildings, facilities, and grounds in top shape by performing minor repairs, maintaining facilities, and engaging in a variety of projects. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you will engage in various trades, utilizing hand tools and equipment in supporting staff with the upkeep and repair of facilities, equipment, and tools at the Nolde Forest Environmental Education Center. Your responsibilities will encompass tasks such as cleaning, using and repairing landscaping tools and equipment, light carpentry, and ensuring tasks are completed safely. You will be responsible for replacing light bulbs, cleaning gutters, and caring for motors through oiling and adjustments. Furthermore, you will paint interior walls, park signs, and other surfaces as directed. Additionally, you will document your work, communicate effectively with the team, and contribute to creating a welcoming and safe place for visitors, volunteers, and coworkers.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • This is a seasonal, full-time position with no healthcare benefits. The season runs from approximately March 2026, through November 2026, at which time the employee will be placed on leave without pay. The employee will automatically be returned to employment March 2027.
  • Work shifts/days vary, will work 5 days/37.5 hours per week to include weekends and holidays if needed.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year of experience in laboring work including the use of tools and equipment used in maintenance or construction; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Other Requirements:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
