Hourly Pay Range: $34.50 - 43.06
Employment Duration: 3 months
UCSF's Berkeley Outpatient Center is seeking an experienced Medical Assistant III to support patient care in a fast-paced specialty clinic setting. This is a full-time, 3-month temporary assignment through UCSF's Temporary Employment Program (TEP) - with the opportunity to gain experience at one of the nation's top academic health systems.

Key Responsibilities:
- Room patients, obtain vitals (height/weight/BP), perform EKGs, assist with exams and procedures, and support emergency response.
- Perform medication reconciliation and review health maintenance; assist with specimen collection and simple point-of-care testing.
- Prepare and maintain clean, well-stocked exam rooms and specialty equipment (scope handling training provided).
- Support front-desk tasks as needed: scheduling in CADENCE, registration checks, insurance verification, and message triage.
- Document accurately in EPIC/APeX and communicate effectively with providers and team members.
- Assist with prior authorizations and pharmacy communications when needed.
- Participate in continuous quality improvement and complete required competency testing.

Please note: An offer will take into consideration the experience of the final candidate AND the current salary level of individuals working at UCSF in a similar role.
For roles covered by a bargaining unit agreement, there will be specific rules about where a new hire would be placed on the range.

UCSF departments deploy temporary employees to work on special projects, fill in for regular employees who are on vacation or leave, or to temporarily fill a vacant position during recruitment. Frequently temporary employees become successful candidates for career and limited appointment positions. Required Qualifications
- At least 2 years of Medical Assistant experience in an ambulatory clinical setting
- At least 6 months of prior experience in an ambulatory surgical specialty, including knowledge of instrument processing and handling
- Strong computer skills, including basic keyboarding skills
- Knowledge and ability necessary for performing clinical duties
- Ability to prioritize and work efficiently with multiple forms of patient and provider communication
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
- Experience documenting in an Electronic Medical Record
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification from an approved Medical Assistant program; or equivalent combination of training and experience
- Phlebotomy (CPT-1) Certification
- Ortho Tech Certification
- Flexibility to orient and work in different BOPC specialties
License/Certification
- American Heart Association BLS - CPR Certified
