Position Summary

This position requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the mission of Orange Coast Medical Center. The Pharmacy Inventory Coordinator plays a critical role in managing and maintaining the inventory of medications and pharmaceutical supplies within the hospital pharmacy. This position is responsible for ensuring that the pharmacy remains adequately stocked at all times to meet the needs of patients. The coordinator ensures pharmacy automation is up to date, monitors inventory levels, ensures automation is being utilized to its maximum potential, and works to maintain an appropriate balance of stock to avoid shortages or overstocking. In addition to maintaining inventory, the Pharmacy Inventory Coordinator ensures compliance with all regulatory standards related to the storage and handling of medications and supplies. This includes following established protocols for inventory management and ensuring that all pharmaceutical products are handled and stored according to regulatory requirements.

Efficiency and cost-effectiveness are also central to this role. The Pharmacy Inventory Coordinator is responsible for implementing practices that support the efficient operation of the pharmacy, minimizing waste, and optimizing costs while maintaining the highest standards of patient care.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the Job

* Track, maintain, and optimize medication inventory across the pharmacy to ensure uninterrupted patient care.

* Receive medications and pharmaceutical supplies, validate and document all shipments according to Drug Supply Chain Security Act (DSCSA) requirements.

* Ensure all received medications are accurately mapped to internal systems including the electronic medical record (EMR), pharmacy automation platforms (e.g., Omnicell), and inventory databases.

* Collaborate with the centralized buyer, pharmacists, and technicians to anticipate medication needs, resolve order or system issues, and ensure timely procurement.

* Ensure all inventory transactions, DSCSA logs, and medication records are accurate, up-to-date, and readily available for inspection.

* Ability to be at work and be on time.

* Ability to follow company policies, procedures and directives.

* Ability to interact in a positive and constructive manner.

* Ability to prioritize and multitask

* Receive medications and supplies and coordinate with suppliers and manufacturers to ensure timely deliveries.

* Completes and/ or resolves all DSCSA, BCMA, and pharmacy automation reviews prior to drug distribution into inventory

* Drug inventory is accurate within hospital at all times with all recalled and expired drugs removed from inventory immediately.

* Maintains, orders, and/ or is responsible for all non-drug supplies needed for pharmacy operations.

* Ensure compliance with hospital, state, and federal regulations while maintaining accurate records of inventory transactions.

* Work closely with centralized buyer team, pharmacists, & technicians to anticipate medication needs.

*Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, relevant years of experience and qualifications.
