What you will do-

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Manager of Environmental, Health, Safety & Process Safety (EHS/PSM) to join our leadership team at our East Providence, Rhode Island manufacturing facility. This is an onsite leadership role responsible for shaping Aspen's safety culture, ensuring regulatory compliance, and implementing world-class safety and process safety programs in a dynamic and growing chemical manufacturing environment.

The Manager, Environmental, Health, Safety & Process Safety is a key member of the site leadership team and will serve as a strategic partner in ensuring the health and safety of our employees, the protection of our environment, and the reliability of our operations.

This role reports directly to the Sr. Director, Operations with a dotted-line reporting relationship to the Vice President, EHS and will lead a team of four direct reports. The successful candidate will bring strong leadership, technical expertise, and a passion for continuous improvement to elevate Aspen's EHS and process safety performance.

How will you do it-

Leadership & Strategic Direction



  • Provide leadership, direction, and mentorship to the site EHS/PSM team and foster a culture of proactive safety and environmental stewardship.
  • Partner with site and corporate leadership to develop, implement, and continuously improve EHS and PSM strategies aligned with Aspen's mission and regulatory obligations.
  • Serve as the primary site contact for federal, state, and local regulatory agencies, as well as internal and external stakeholders on all EHS/PSM matters.
  • Champion employee engagement and accountability around EHS policies, practices, and initiatives.


Compliance & Program Management



  • Ensure full compliance with all applicable EHS regulations, including OSHA Process Safety Management (29 CFR 1910.119), EPA Risk Management Program (40 CFR Part 68), and Title V Air Permitting requirements.
  • Oversee and continuously improve EHS management systems, including ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 programs.
  • Lead permitting, reporting, auditing, and regulatory inspections, ensuring the facility is always inspection-ready.
  • Drive sustainability initiatives and maintain strong community and regulatory relationships.


Process Safety Leadership



  • Own and advance Aspen's East Providence Process Safety Management (PSM) program, including:

    • Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs), HAZOPs, What-Ifs, and Layer of Protection Analyses (LOPAs)
    • Management of Change (MOC) and Pre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSRs)
    • Mechanical Integrity, Safe Operating Procedures, and Training Programs
    • Incident Investigations and Root Cause Analyses


  • Collaborate with engineering, operations, and maintenance teams to integrate process safety into project design, operational changes, and day-to-day decision-making.


Training, Engagement & Continuous Improvement



  • Design and deliver impactful training programs that build competency and empower employees to prioritize safety.
  • Lead investigations of incidents and near misses, ensuring thorough root cause analysis and effective corrective actions.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve safety programs and processes using best practices, data-driven insights, and employee feedback.
  • Build cross-functional partnerships to drive continuous improvement and a proactive safety culture.


Supervisory Responsibilities:



  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance withthe organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, training, and developing employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.



Why you are right for the job-

Required:



  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Science, Safety Management, or a related technical discipline.
  • Minimum of 7+ years of progressive experience in EHS and process safety management in a chemical manufacturing or similar high-hazard industrial environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of OSHA PSM, EPA RMP, ISO 14001/45001, and other relevant regulations and standards (API, NFPA, ASME, etc.).
  • Proven experience with PHA methodologies, LOPA, risk analysis, and process safety software tools.
  • Strong leadership skills with demonstrated success in building, coaching, and influencing cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and EHS management systems.


Preferred:



  • Professional certification(s) such as CSP, CHMM, or CIH.
  • Experience leading regulatory inspections and external audits.
  • Experience integrating sustainability initiatives into EHS programs.

Expected Compensation: Between $160,000 and $180,000 USD/year based on experience. Yearly Bonus eligibility.
