Essential Functions & Responsibilities
Technical Solutions Coordinator I As a Technical Solutions Coordinator I you will be responsible for approving waste streams into the Arcwood network and securing approvals from Arcwood teams to treat and dispose of waste. This role is a vital member of the regional team, ensuring outlets for customer waste are secured in a timely manner.
- Prioritizes health and safety by adhering to policies, processes, and maintaining safe practices at all times
- Follows all processes and standards implemented by Arcwood's Central Technical Experts, Operations Approval Chemists and Compliance and Auditing team and supports the auditing team to confirm that established standards are being followed
- Serves as the subject matter expert (SME) regarding Federal, State and Local regulations for the collection, storage, transportation and disposal of hazardous waste, supporting multiple Service Centers
- Maintains an understanding of the range of treatment and disposal options available to the Service Center within the Arcwood network and provides guidance on the best solution based on technical and economic factors; partners with the Third-Party Approvals team to secure outlets to third-party TSDFs as needed
- Guides Customer Solutions Coordinators on the appropriate TSDF and process codes as needed for new waste profiles; in complex cases, completes this process on behalf of the Customer Solutions Coordinator
- Speaks directly to the customer to understand the nature of their waste when required to accelerate customer services
- Approves new waste streams to enter the Arcwood network
- Provides a 'hotline' for Operations teams in the field to approve additional quantities and types of waste that customers request be collected during services; ensures they do not provide approval for waste acceptance if the material is not understood or there is discomfort in its acceptance
- Advises Operations leadership, Account Managers, and Customer Solutions Coordinators on the most appropriate destination for waste, taking into consideration the best treatment options available as well as branch operational logistics to get the waste to the final intended TSDFs
- Assists Customer Solutions Coordinators and Account Managers to get approval from Operations Approval Chemists to transport the waste into Arcwood TSDFs
- Provides expert guidance to Account Managers to understand the demands of new/complex waste streams to assist Arcwood in winning new customers and new waste streams with existing customers
- Serves as the primary contact between Arcwood Service Centers and TSDFs
- Supports Customer Solutions Coordinators, Account Managers, and Service Delivery to resolve technical issues in the review holding area as soon as possible; identifies solution and delegates resolution task(s) aligned with items in the holding area in a timely manner
- Provides support from an Arcwood Service Center location or Corporate Office (ideally, one supported by this role) and proactively builds knowledge of colleagues, specifically Customer Solutions Coordinators and Account Managers
- Prioritizes in-person and phone discussions to resolve issues with internal teams to minimize emails generated; approaches communications with customers in a similar way to build rapport, unless otherwise indicated by the customer's preferences
- Takes on additional duties as assigned to support the team and organization
Education
- Bachelor's degree in environmental science or related field (required)
Experience
- 3+ years of experience in a technical or operational role within the hazardous waste industry (required) -OR-
- In lieu of degree, 7+ years of experience in a technical or operational role within the hazardous waste industry (required)
- Previous experience working with multiple TSDF/T&D options (required)
