Job Summary

Formulates and defines system scope and objectives through research and fact-finding, combined with an understanding of academic advising practices, PeopleSoft Campus Solutions, and related bolt-on and third-party applications. Documents academic advising user needs and functional requirements and participates in multiple phases of systems analysis related to academic advising, degree audit, degree planning, and course auditing tools. Evaluates the business implications of applying technology solutions to the academic advising environment and provides functional support, documentation, training, and ongoing system enhancements in collaboration with Academic Advising stakeholders, IT teams, and external vendors.

  • Performs system troubleshooting in staging and in production environments for PeopleSoft Academic Advising modules, degree audit systems, academic advising bolt-on modules, and third-party advising support applications.
  • Assists academic advisors and advising support staff in resolving functional and system-related issues within established service level agreements (SLAs), including issues involving vendor-supported data and service interfaces.
  • Provides end-user instruction, training, and functional support to Academic Advisors and Student Success staff related to degree audit, degree planning, course auditing, and academic advising applications.
  • Collects, analyzes, and documents academic advising business and functional enhancement requirements by reviewing documentation and conducting requirement-gathering meetings with advising stakeholders.
  • Serves as a liaison between academic advising business users and technical teams'including ERP developers, IT support staff, and external solution vendors'throughout system upgrades, enhancements, and solution delivery processes.
  • Designs, produces, and maintains project documentation, functional specifications, workflows, and user manuals for academic advising and degree audit tools, in accordance with departmental implementation methodologies.
  • Evaluates and develops logical workflows and system configurations to ensure synchronized and accurate data exchange across Degree Audit, Degree Planner, Course Auditor, case management, and communication systems.
  • Advises users on system design and usability by facilitating focus groups, usability testing, and feedback sessions to improve academic advising technology services and user experience.
  • Assists in interpreting University academic rules and advising policies and applies findings to configure system rules, validation logic, and setup values within academic advising and degree audit systems.


Desired Qualifications
  • Demonstrated experience in academic advising business processes and workflow applicable within degree auditing and planning software.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate technical jargon into user-friendly training manuals, and experience conducting hands-on training sessions for non-technical staff.
