Works with IT/Business leadership and other cross-functional teams to define enterprise level strategies and technical direction. Defines the system, technical, and application architectures, and in some instances, the business systems architecture for major areas of development. Ensures appropriate technical standards and procedures are defined. Leads the creation and/or evolution of the enterprise architecture function/program including coordination of an appropriately balanced pursuit of enterprise business, information, technical and solution architectures. Leads the identification and analysis of enterprise business drivers to develop enterprise architecture requirements. Analyzes technology industry and market trends and determines potential impact upon the enterprise. Leads the development of enterprise architecture governance structure based on business and IT strategies. Oversees enterprise architecture implementation and ongoing refinement activities. Directs the development and execution of a communication (including education) plan for enterprise architecture standards. Acts as a sounding board or consultant to IT and business leaders in the development of IT solutions for business needs.



Your Impact

    Provides architectural vision to appropriately align IT to strategic business needs and goals.
  • Maintains an ongoing partnership with the business to apply in-depth knowledge of the business operations, strategies, priorities and information requirements to establish the technical direction and an enterprise view.
  • Defines enterprise level strategies and technical direction.
  • Responsible for providing senior level expertise on decisions and priorities regarding the enterprise's overall systems architecture.
  • Facilitates the establishment and implementation of standards and guidelines that guide the design of technology solutions including architecting and implementing solutions requiring integration of multiple platforms, operating systems and applications across the enterprise.
  • Reviews, advises and designs standard software and hardware builds, system options, risks, costs versus benefits and impact on the enterprise business process and goals.
  • Develops and documents the framework for integration and implementation for changes to technical standards
  • Assists in the development of and manages an architecture governance process.
  • Provides technical guidance to project team areas as appropriate.
  • Tracks industry trends and maintains knowledge of new technologies to better serve the enterprise's architecture needs.
  • Defines the system, technical, and application architectures, and in some instances the business systems/process architecture for major areas of development.
  • Ensures appropriate technical standards and procedures are defined. Manages the development of centers of excellence around key technologies.
  • Ensures best practices are adhered to in the adoption of new technologies.
  • Researches, evaluates and selects from existing and emerging technologies the options best fitting business and IT strategic needs.
  • Ensures the delivery process and technology strategies are coherent and optimized.
  • Manages multi-project management accountabilities in developing and architecting solutions in a collaborative environment.
  • Oversees the design and delivery of proofs-of-concept for new or improved enterprise-wide technologies that are used across multiple areas of the business.
  • Architects solutions across multiple hardware/software computing environments and system components.
  • Plans and implements process re-engineering or process improvement.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related IT field or equivalent work experience.
    • Master's degree in Computer Systems or related field preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in enterprise projects within the architectural domain.
  • Expertise in developing and architecting solutions in a collaborative environment, as well as significant experience in multiple hardware/software computing environments and system components.
  • Experience in business process re-engineering or process improvement involving broad-based information systems, utilizing tools and techniques to effect business change; business systems analysis experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in translating business strategies, across several business units, into effective solutions.
  • Possess ability to extract and translate business strategy into architectural requirements.
  • Demonstrate strong personal and organizational leadership skills.
  • Display ability to collaboratively produce quality solutions to meet organizational needs.
  • Comfortable with enterprise level decision making and is results oriented.
  • Ability to collaboratively participate in large scale multi-disciplined projects.
  • Ability to design and implement business architecture, processes and strategies.
  • Strategic thinking and leadership with strong abilities in relationship management.
  • Excellent analytical, planning, and communication skills.
  • Visionary in anticipating future IT direction and able to communicate that vision to IT and business partners.


Additional Success Factors

  • Has 10 to 15 years of IT and business/industry work experience including architecture design and deployment, systems lifecycle management and infrastructure planning and operations, with 3 years of leadership experience in managing multiple, large, cross-functional teams or projects, and influencing senior level management and key stakeholders.
  • Senior level management. Participates in the technical aspects of strategic decisions regarding IT for the enterprise. Implements and manages those initiatives with complete autonomy. Makes decisions for the organization based on the highest degree of technical complexity and through understanding the far-reaching implications across the IT organization.
  • Practical experience in the Health Provider and/or Payer industries. The experience should include a broad range of business/clinical solutions for each of those domains.
  • Working knowledge workflow, web interfaces, SOA, and telephony solutions.
  • Act with integrity in all ways and at all times, remaining honest, transparent, and respectful in all relationships.
