Description
The City of Chicago is seeking an attorney for the position of Chief Assistant Corporation Counsel in the Real Estate and Land Use Division to represent the City and supervise other attorneys in real estate and related transactional work. The Chief Assistant Corporation Counsel will work under the general supervision of the Deputy Corporation Counsel in the Division and will have significant responsibility for overseeing and handling complex transactions. Such transactions will include drafting and negotiating agreements (such as redevelopment, purchase and sale, intergovernmental, infrastructure, easement, license, lease, inclusionary housing, railroad and public way use agreements), title and environmental matters, vacations and dedications, closings, and advising clients in areas such as public infrastructure, streets and alleys, affordable housing, eminent domain, trespass, zoning and landmarks, council committees and the application of municipal laws and procedures. The attorney will be responsible for both supervision of attorneys and direct handling of his or her own matters. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Ideal candidates will possess the following:
