Overview

Beyond New Horizons, LLC (BNH) has an exciting opportunity for a Power Switchboard Operator, supporting TOS II, at Arnold AFB Tennessee. The selected candidate will be working as a member of an integrated team responsible for supporting the United States Air Force Test Operations and Sustainment efforts.

Open to internal, BNH candidates only. External candidates will not be considered. The selected candidate for this requisition must be available to work any shift and shift determination will be made based on the priority of work at the time the selected candidate is cleared to report to work.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will be responsible for performing complex switching operations, daily logs and dispatcher support to the electrical distribution systems, associated with various facilities at Arnold AFB.

Job Duties:

    Performs and/or directs high voltage switching operations
  • Operates all equipment in 161 KV and 13.8 KV substations plus other points of distribution systems as required to maintain or change power flow
  • Patrols and inspects overhead power lines and equipment
  • Detects and reports abnormal conditions and takes necessary corrective action
  • Immediate response to emergency fire calls to support Fire Department
  • Protects equipment from damage in emergencies
  • Determines causes and performs operations necessary to isolate faulty equipment and restore service
  • Makes minor repairs to equipment in case of emergency
  • Records meter readings, changes charts on recording meters and maintains a log of operations
  • Issues emergency hold orders and places and removes protective hold order tags in accordance with hold order procedures
  • Assists in operation of Energy Management and Control System (EMCS) console
  • Follows established safety procedures and utilizes safety protective equipment and clothing that pertains to the work
  • Keeps supervisor apprised of unique situations and problems encountered
  • Ensure proper housekeeping practices are observed
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
  • It is a condition of employment to wear PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) in accordance with supervisory direction and company policy
  • Perform other duties as required

Basic Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Six years of progressive journeyman experience in operations and maintenance of electrical equipment and performing switching of electrical systems
  • Ability to work well in emergencies
  • Thorough knowledge of complex electrical controls, switching and substation equipment
  • Must be able to work varying shifts including 1st, 2nd, 3rd, weekend and split shifts
  • Must possess and maintain a valid State driver's license with an acceptable driving record
  • Ability to successfully pass any background checks and/or drug testing required on the contract
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain security clearance and access to the AEDC local area computer network
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English well enough to understand, give and take directions
  • Current U.S. Citizenship required
