The Electric Operations Team is responsible for ensuring the electric grid's reliability and resiliency through the ongoing maintenance and operations of PG&E's 100,000 miles of distribution lines and over 18,000 miles of Transmission lines. Position Summary

The Electric Construction Specialist identifies contract worthy projects in partnership with Maintenance & Construction and Transmission Line and provides consultation on the feasibility of construction projects for Engineering. The incumbent partners with Project Management and Engineering provide advice and direction at the construction project site regarding environment and related details. The specialist also works in conjunction with Contract Specialists to facilitate the creation of outsourced contracts. The incumbent is the primary contact for outsourced contract construction firms during the contract bid process and maintaining and consulting status throughout the life cycle of the project.

Location is flexible within the Southern HQs of PG&E Service Territory (Bakersfield, Fresno, Huron, Pismo or Merced etc.), please note hiring leader will make final decision of what are appropriate headquarters for the role based on business need.

Position will require approximately 50% of travel time in work schedule. Individuals will travel within the designated region to various substations to attend project meetings or perform walk downs. Individuals will need to be knowledgeable in substation construction, be able to review construction drawings, and develop and review labor hours for substation construction related activities.

This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need. The assigned work location will be within the PG&E Service Territory (Southern Region).

PG&E is providing the hourly rate range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual hourly rate paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired in this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.

The hourly rate for this position ranges from $46.64 to $69.23

This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E's discretionary incentive compensation programs.

Job Responsibilities:

* For a single discipline (civil, electrical or line), attends job scope walk downs w/ PG&E Engineers and Project Managers. Leads job scope discussions with M&C Supervisors. Conducts preliminary jobsite visits, solicits input on the constructability and contractibility of proposed projects. Begin learning and handling this process for one or more additional disciplines.
* Within assigned discipline (civil, electrical or line), interprets design, writes work specific scope documentation, and contributes to the contracting decision-making process with Project Managers and M&C Supervisors.
* Reviews RFP's to confirm financial data submitted from the contractor matches the job scope.
* On a limited basis and designated by the supervisor, provide mentoring to career level employees.
* Attend formal job walk downs with Project Managers and/or M&C personnel to review the IFC (Issued for Construction) drawings and discuss scope, schedule and target dates.
* Compiles internal drawings and relevant data for the RFP and contract processes.
* Addresses communication with contractors.
* Conducts meetings at the jobsite allowing contractors to review the design and ask questions.
* Utilizes workload management database, updates personally assigned projects, assists Career level employees with system usage, and begins reviewing workload analysis reports.

Minimum Qualifications:

* High School or GED
* 5 years post journey level or equivalent experience in construction projects with either a civil or electrical focus.

Desired Qualifications:

* Bachelor's degree in construction management, civil engineering, construction science or electrical engineering depending on area of focus.
* Specialized knowledge of either civil, electric or line construction projects.
* Familiarity with the processes and orientation of construction contracting firms.
* Strong project and people management skills.
* Ability to understand, interpret and communicate civil/electrical work procedures, work methods, standards, policies, and guidelines.
* Demonstrates skill in achieving cooperation from others to achieve a goal.
* Knowledge of California and Federal regulatory requirements such as Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC), Western Electricity Coordinating Council (WECC), and CAISO.
