Optics Engineering Technician

We are seeking an Optics Engineering Technician to support the improvement and optimization of optical polishing processes for aerospace transparency components, including cockpit windshields and fighter jet transparencies. This hands-on role focuses on enhancing polishing techniques to achieve superior optical clarity and reduce aberrations in transparent materials.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in developing and implementing advanced optical polishing techniques and processes

• Support research and development efforts to improve existing polishing methods and reduce process variability

• Conduct hands-on polishing operations using various equipment and metrology tools

• Perform quality inspections and testing to validate polishing effectiveness

• Document process improvements and maintain detailed records of polishing parameters

• Collaborate with engineering team to troubleshoot optical issues such as distortion and surface imperfections

• Support automation initiatives for polishing processes

• Maintain and calibrate polishing and inspection equipment

Qualifications

• Only US Citizens, Green card holders, political asylees, or refugees are eligible to apply.

• High school diploma or equivalent

• 10+ years of experience in optical fabrication, polishing, or related manufacturing processes

• Hands-on experience with optical polishing equipment and techniques

• Basic understanding of optical principles and surface quality requirements

• Experience with metrology equipment (interferometers, surface profilers, etc.)

The base salary range for this position is $75,000 to $85,000, with a possibility of an annual bonus up to 2.5% of base salary.
